Sixteen

[Name]'s eyes fluttered open when she heard her name being called. She looked up to find her friends packing their musical instruments. She tried to rub the sleepiness off her eyes, wondering what's going on. "We're going heading home first." They said.

"It's fine," [Name] yawned with a smile. "I'll just continue napping here for a while..." She leaned her head back to the wall behind her. "Bye~" She waved at them as they left the music room. Once she was left alone, the quiet and peaceful atmosphere returned. Slowly, her breathings turned even and her sleepiness started to take over once more.

"N-No! That's not it!" She blinked at the sound of Oikawa's voice. The weight of her sleepiness suddenly gone.

"Tooru-chan?" She muttered to herself, pushing herself up to look out the window above her head. Looking through the glass of the window, she saw Oikawa and Umi sitting by the bench just outside the music room, their backs against her. She was about to push the window open when he spoke again.

"I... I'm not in love with [Name]... Not like that... I just want to help her, to make her happy. That's all to it... When I found out about her condition, I knew I couldn't just let her go through this alone so I did the best I could. I never felt..."

[Name]'s eyes widened. Her pupils dilated. Her breath hitched. Her lips parted. Her hands remained mid-air, reaching for the window. His muffled voice echoed in her mind. Not in love with me?...

"You're lying." Umi's voice sounded as [Name] continued to listen against her own will. "It's true that at the beginning, you wanted to make her happy because of her memory disorder."

[Name]'s hand suddenly turned numb and fell to her side. "M-Memory disorder?" She echoed in a barely audible voice. She stumbled backwards, trying understand what she heard. "What are they tal..."

"Sorry to be so direct but who are you?"

"...king a...bout?..."

"I really don't recall having a girlfriend!"

"I don't understand..." She sank her nails into her throbbing scalp as random memories just started to jam into her brain.

"All these dates with Oikawa-senpai are actually from a fanfiction by the Oikawa Tooru Offical Fan Club."

"W-What..." Her knees gave up on her and she was reduced into a crouching mess.

"Why won't you just listen to me?! I told you that you can't see him!"

All the air seemed to have abandoned her. Her shoulders shook violently as she tried to breathe.

"It's like I've never held them before today. I can't get enough of it."

She crawled at herself, trying to get the voices out of her head.

"Nee~ [Nickname]-chan, why do you like Tooru?"

"[Name]!" Iwaizumi called shortly after the door slammed open, causing her to flinch. The tightness in her chest didn't allow her to scream so she moved closer to the wall even though she was already pressing against it tightly.

She looked up to him, taking in the concerned look on his face. It took her a moment to figure out who was holding her with the glassiness of her eyes. Realizing it wasn't a stranger, she reached out to his blue button up shirt with her shaky hands, leaving burning sensations on her skin where they once were.
