The room was awfully quiet without you. The new nurse was all over the place, constantly muttering under her breath about being underpaid. From what I could decipher, she was attending to three patients. It must have been draining.
I wondered if my mum felt the same. During moments when she felt overwhelmed, did she have anyone to talk to? I hoped she had.
We didn't have much in common, so most conversations ended with me turning my head to the window and shutting my eyes.
She would then quietly leave the room.
