*Jessica's P.O.V*

When I woke up the next morning, the first thing, I did was to touch my cheek. The memories of last night came rushing back to me, and I rolled over on my stomach and pressed my face into the pillow. I couldn't face Max after my humiliating display last night. When he pulled back, he probably saw my eyes closed, and now, he would think that I was head over heels for him.

Agh! I'm so stupid...

I heard some grumbling sound around me, but I didn't bother to lift my head from the pillow. I felt the weight shift on my bed, and then, a voice suddenly echoed in my ear.

"Goooood morningggg!" Nina screamed in my ear.

"Ugh," I groaned and rubbed my ear. Annoyed, I pushed her back. "What the hell, Nina?"

"Oh, someone is grumpy on this beautiful morning," she commented and cocked her eyebrow. She looked fresh in a black shirt and dark blue jeans, not even a sign of last night smudge make-up. It means she had already took a shower.

I avoided her comment and jumped out of bed. I went towards the window and looked outside at the beautiful beach.

Last night, I spent more than an hour talking with Mahi. She was full-on teasing me about Max. If it was up to her, she would fly here right now and give Max a hug since he saved me from Daniel and Nick. Not to mention, she was so pissed off after hearing about Nick, but when she got to know the whole story, she felt relieved. She was glad that I found someone I could trust. However, I had a bit of doubt in that.

Wasn't it a bit soon to jump to such a conclusion?

"Did something happen last night?" Nina asked, interrupting my thoughts and nudging my shoulder.

"Huh?" I asked and turned my face towards her. She crossed her arms and stared at me with a suspicious look on her face.

"Um, nothing," I lied and looked away.

"Don't give me that crap. I looked everywhere for you, but you just vanished somewhere. I tried even calling you, but you forgot your damn phone. I was so worried. Where the hell were you?" She sounded angry.

"You were worried, really? Because as far I remember, you were the one that left me alone with that bastard who could have eaten me alive," I said through gritted teeth.

She blinked, and her eyes softened. "You mean that guy? But he looked decent, and you were also enjoying his company. I didn't think that..." She trailed off.

"You better think twice before pulling such a stunt."

"I just wanted you to have some fun. You were so upset. I thought you needed a break, that's why I decided to bring you here... Ugh! I'm so stupid. I'm so sorry-"

"Nina, it's okay. Stop blabbering," I interrupted her, putting a hand on her shoulder.

"Oh, yeah. Sorry!" she said, giving me a sheepish smile, and added, "What happened? And do you want me to kick his balls? Because I swear, I can do that."

I rolled my eyes and said, "He was just taking advantage of the situation, and no, he probably learned his lesson." I smiled, remembering his painful face.

"Why are you smiling, and what lesson?" she asked, getting confused.

"Nothing." I shrugged. "Are we leaving now?" I asked, walking towards the closet and grabbed a white shirt with black denim from it.

"Don't try to change the topic. Tell me everything." She scowled.

I sighed and sat on the bed. "Max saved me again." I lifted my head and saw her mouth hang open. I chuckled and told her the rest of the story, except the conversation with Max because it wasn't my place to tell her about his past.
