Shifting is the process when a werewolf in human form shift to their wolf form. They can have more control over their wolf depending on the situation.
Now, there are debates between how werewolves should look. Personally, the werewolves on Twilight are too cute and cuddly- not scary at all. But, the werewolves on Harry Potter on the other hand are too freaky looking and not to mention, very ugly.

I think somewhere in between these too would be close. Although, whatever you picture in your head is just fine... I'd say they look just like regular wolves but BIGGER, STRONGER, and their eyes are BLACK. (When the human side has more control in this form the eyes are somewhat their normal color.)

(Full Blooded) Werewolves shift for the first time at about 13 years old.

However, half blooded weres shift late- around 18 years old. Some do not shift at all even though the werewolf gene is dominate.

The gene that makes you shift can skip generations but it's VERY RARE.

The first time a wolf shifts it is very painful and it takes some time to get their wolf under control.
Even then, it takes a lot of time to learn to control their wolf and they could shift unexpectedly at anytime.
This can take a couple weeks or up to 6 months until their wolf calms down and are controlled.
After the shift, their reflexes become better and their senses become more enhanced than before(sight, smell, hearing, etc.)
Along with these new advantages comes a lot of bad temper(especially after the first shift) Also it comes with a lot of raging hormones😬
