"Explain then, damnit!" He growls back at me.

"Rick is like a brother to me! Can't you get that into your fvcking mind and stop freaking out. I was just upset over something while I was trying to tell him about you. He was just helping me feel better like big brothers are supposed too. So stop being so damn insecure! You're my mate Chase! There's literally no one else for me, but you."

"I'm sorry, alright?!" He says looking at me, his green eyes going back to normal, "I just can't help feeling jealous when some other guy is with you and not me. He shouldn't have been the one comforting you, it should have been me. Why can't you just tell me when you're feeling upset? Why can't you trust me?"

"Chase, I do trust you. It's just what we were talking about is something I can't tell you right now. It's personal family business that I'm not allowed to talk about."

"I'm part of your family now. Your business is my business. Why can't you just let me in?"

"Because I can't!" I scream, "I just can't..." I whisper sliding down the tree and sitting down. I put my hands over my face so he doesn't see the tears. I haven't cried in so long.

"Serenity," my name on his tongue sends shivers throughout my body, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make you upset. Please don't cry," he says wrapping me in his arms.

An automatic warmth comes from the feeling of his arms around me. It feels safe, comforting.

"I'm sorry, Chase. I have to get back inside," I say trying to get up. He holds me down in his arms, he so much stronger than he looks.

"No," he says in a deep voice.

"What?"

"Don't go, I just want to hold you a little longer."

"Chase, I need to go. He might come out to look for me."

"I don't care! Just a little longer, I just need to know you're real and that you're mine."

"I am real," I sigh, "you don't need to worry, I'll always be yours. There's no one else for me, no matter what."

"I love you, Serenity. I don't know what I did to deserve you, but I'm glad I have you now. I love you so much."

"I love you too Chase. You're better than what I could have imagined. I didn't think having a mate would be like this. I love you."

With that he squeezes me one last time, his face in my neck taking in my scent. He pulls back and I look at him. His eyes are a softer green, one I haven't seen before. I'm surprised as he gives me a quick kiss before disappearing into the forest.

Why does my mate have to be so damn bipolar?

I walk back inside and Rick looks at me with a smirk on his face.

"So that's lover boy?"

"You were watching?"

"How could I not? He was pretty loud and a bit insecure."

"That's none of your business. He just doesn't like you being in my house."

"Well too bad for him. He should know not to be worried, you are mates."

"Still, he gets jealous that you get to be here and not him."

"Oh, a clingy one, huh?"

"A bit, he want me to move into the pack house."

"Woah, wait. What?! You can't do that!"

"I know! But I already said yes!"

"What the hell? Why would you say yes?! You're violating our laws by a lot! If the council finds out, it won't be good for you."

"Do you think my parents will keep it secret?"

"I don't know, they're pretty understanding, but I don't know."

"You know what? I'm just gonna get this over with. I need to call them eventually."

"Wait you're gonna call them now?"

"Yep," I say as I hit the call button on my phone.

"Hello?"

"Hi mom!"

"Hi Serenity! How's the mission?"

"It's going good. Ricks here checking up on me."

"Oh that's nice sweetie," I hear my dad say in the background.

"Am I on speaker?"

"Yes."

"Ok good. I need to talk to the both of you."

I hear my dad mumble something in the background.

"Shhh," I hear my mom say, "go ahead sweetie, we're listening."

"Ok well," I take a deep breath, "I found my mate."

"What?!" They both shout at the same time, I hear something crash I the background. "Who are they?"

"His name is Chase. He's amazing and he's-"

"Oh sweetie I'm so happy for you!" I hear my mom squeal.

"He better not hurt you, or I'll break him into millions of pieces," my dad grumbles.

"He's an Alpha," I whisper out.

"What?!" My dad shouts, I hear another thing crashing. "No, Serenity. I'm sorry, but I don't think the council will allow it."

"Are you still with him?" My mom asks.

"Yes."

"Does he suspect anything?"

"No."

"Good, keep it that way. You've been with him too long, he knows your scent too well. If you try to avoid him or leave he'll find you eventually. He will go on an absolute rampage if you try to avoid him or are around another man too much," she says, "especially if he's an Alpha."

"I know, I've already experienced it."

"What?! What did he do to you?! I swear I kil-"

"DAD!" I growled through the phone. I don't care if he's my dad, that's my mate he's talking about. "I can handle him," I say in a much calmer voice, "don't worry."

"Well," he says quietly. That was the first time I've ever growled at him. I guess I'm usually a bit more respectful. "I understand, but if he hurts you in any way-"

"Don't worry dad, you'll be the first to know."

"Good."

"So what do I do?"

"I'm not exactly sure sweetie, this isn't usually much of a problem for hunters like us. Most normally get into the business already with mates. They also usually don't have kids."

"Are you saying I was an accident?"

"Just a little, we weren't sure if we wanted children, then you happened and we had to keep you. I mean we raised you into the art of being a hunter. That's how you're so good, most hunters aren't raised into it. They decide, and you decided early."

"Well, that's nice I guess. That still doesn't help on whether or not I should him what I do for a living."

"Honey, it's honestly up to you. The council will find out eventually, just don't let them beat you to telling the truth."

Hey guys! It's been a bit. Sorry things have been slow. I've been working out things for my other book A Howl To Die For, and I've been going through ideas for another book.
It's like a lowkey rejection that doesn't last long, but it's like a back and forth.
I also have school to worry about, but I'm doing my best, never realized how challenging it could be. It's worth it though.

So yeah, love you guys! ❤️
