The Program

Chapter 11

A/N: Happy early 4th of July, everyone! I'm going up to Payson tomorrow to see some fireworks, so I'm gonna write this chapter tonight instead of tomorrow like I was planning to. Anyways, ENJOY!

*Mariella's POV*

I woke up the next morning, got dressed, and ate a quick breakfast. I ran out the door and walked through the park to get to school. I had to get there early for two reasons: 1. I didn't want to run into Connor and 2. I need to find Austin and talk to him. I had to find out what the hell was going on between Connor and Sarah.

It took me about ten minutes before I finally found Austin. He was sitting on the floor in front of a locker, completely immersed in his phone. I took a deep breath and sat down next to him. Here goes nothing.

*Austin's POV*

I looked up from my phone when I heard someone sit next to me. It was Mariella.

"Hey, I need to talk to you," she said.

"Sure, what do you need?" I put my phone in the pocket of my jeans and turned my attention to her.

She took a deep breath. "I need to know what happened between Connor and Sarah last year." I looked at her like she was crazy. "Please. Sarah talked to me yesterday and told me HER side of the story and I didn't believe her at first. But the more I thought about it, the more I believed it." She was going to say something else, but stopped herself. I raised my eyebrow, but didn't question it.

I let out a breath. "Fine, but I didn't tell you this, ok? We promised Connor that we wouldn't tell anyone." She nodded. "Ok. So last year, they were here at school and were up by the office before school. Connor had been telling me that he was going to break up with her, but was afraid what she would do. He did it that morning in front of the office. She completely freaked. She screamed and when her dad came running in, she started telling him that Connor had hit her and called her a bitch and a slut and a bunch of other things. It was scary. I was right there behind Connor. Her dad ended up suspending him for a week. I tried to tell him that that wasn't what happened, but he didn't believe me. That's what happened."

"Wow. That's...just wow. Wait, what do you mean her dad suspended him? How could he do that?"

I looked at her, stunned. "You don't know? Her name is Sarah Geller. Mr. Geller is her dad."
