We are still behind the waterfall when my eyes flicker open again. I'm leaning on Kyle and he's stroking my hair softly. My eyes meet his and he gives me a gentle smile. "Did you get any sleep?"
"No... I couldn't."
"What time is it?" I ask. He takes out his phone from his pocket.
"It's seven thirty. We should probably go if you want to get to school." Kyle says and I moan in complaint. School? Ugh. I can't imagine another day there. Usually it's alright because I focus on work and try my hardest to get the best grade possible... But now exams are over and I'd rather not see my friends.
"I don't want to go."
"I don't either."
"Well then... Let's not."
"You're serious?" Kyle says, looking down at me with tired eyes.
"I'm really not up to it today. Will you stay with me?"
"Anytime." His voice is slightly huskier than usual I can't deny how cute it is.

For a while we just lie there in comfortable silence. Then my tummy grumbling fills the quiet. Kyle grins and then stands up, offering me a hand once he's on his feet. Without saying anything, we head back to his bike.

Kyle tosses me the helmet and puts his own on. "Are you sure you're not too tired to ride?" I ask since he hasn't had any sleep.
"I haven't slept for three days and I've survived... I should be alright."
"Three days?!" I saw bewildered.
"Can't help it."
"What do you mean?"
"Sometimes I just can't sleep well. Other times I sleep too much. It's ok, I've had this forever."
"Are you sure? We could call a cab or take the subway?
"I'm fine Kirsten, really." He says firmly to assure me.

Reluctantly I let him start the motorbike and we head down the same path. The scenery is really beautiful and I can't believe places so fairy-tale like exist.

We stop outside a pretty diner. The diners walls are a cream colour and has pink window shades. Inside, pink and white stripe adorn the walls and off-white leather chairs, forming little booths, border the room.

Kyle and I walk inside and he leads me to the far left booth. A middle-aged lady with platinum blond hair up in an intricate French roll comes up to us. She greets Kyle first. "Oh hi Kyle! Lovely seeing you here again!"
"Hey Sherri." He says casually and smiles. And who's this? You've never brought a girl before." She says gingerly and raises her eyebrows. I laugh and Kyle does too.

Kyle orders for us both and talks to Sherri for a bit longer. Sherri seems lovely and is very friendly. I could name all her six sisters and four children. She leaves with a hop in her step.

"Sorry about her..."
"Sorry? She's so sweet." I say and shake my head.
"She's like a mother to me."
"What's your mum like?" I suddenly wonder whether or not I should have asked that because he sighs and rubs his forehead.
"My mum... Amazing, beautiful, honest, trustworthy, selfless, kind, caring. She was the best. There's only one thing."
"What?"
"She was a coward."

I drop the subject after that because Kyle gets a dark look in his eyes and it almost scares me... Except the look is more despair-ish than angry or anything.

We finish our food and then get back on Kyle's bike. He starts driving aimlessly again and I think this time we really don't have a final destination.

Kyle pulls over on the side of the street and takes out his phone. He brings it to his ear, someone must have been ringing him. "Hello? What?" He pauses and listens to the other line. Then r tells me it's Josh. "Bring what?... Now?... I'm... How did you know I was with... Ok I'll tell her." Then he redirects the conversation to me, "Sierra and Josh are playing a prank in the science lab but they just ran out of this chemical thing. Apparently it's in some detergent or something and you would know what it is." He passes me the phone. I listen intently and he's right. I know the exact detergent to get.
"There's enough of the chemical in detergent to set the reaction. I have to say, your plan is genius." Sierra laughs through the phone.
"Bring it now." She says and then hangs up.

Kyle has the detergent at his home, so we start heading there. I'm nervous because I've never been to his house before. It only takes three minutes to be outside the blue walls of his town house. Different shades of blue and white shutters are pretty much all I can see. He tells me to wait next to the bike because it's messy inside. "I really don't mind."
"It's messier than your house before your grandma came. I don't think anyone could handle this."
"Is there another reason you don't want me to come inside?"
"What?? Of course not."
"Ok then I'm coming in."
"Alright kiddo, but you were warned."

We walk up the steps to his house and he unlocks the door. I wait behind him as he steps inside and then pauses. "Kyle?" Someone yells from inside and then the door slams in my face.

I hear shouting through the door. "What are you doing here?" Kyle says.
"I live here?" Someone else says much softer. I have to lean and put my ear on the door to hear them.
"I thought you were at work? Ugh, never mind. Just leave. Get out." Kyle says slightly less annoyed.
"No way. What's your problem?"
"Look, I brought... A friend. Could you please leave?"
"Where is he? Did you just slam the door in his face? What a dick move-"

The door opens and I tumble forward into the guys arms. I jump back quickly, unsure of who this guy is. It must be...

"I'm Toby. You must be Kristen."
