Holly sat down cross legged on her bedroom floor leafing through the Petrova book that Damon and Elena had found in Isobel's study trying to find out where her witch heritage came from. Of course finding out had become difficult when she found out that the book was mainly written in Bulgarian. She had used a translator, but so far the only closed thing to a witch that she could find was the word, Traveler which she had no idea what it meant.

The past few days had been exhausting, Katherine hadn't made an appearance yet, but Damon had provoked Mason which put them all in danger. Holly had told Jeremy to be careful around Tyler, but knowing Jeremy she doubted he would listen.

She heard a knock on the door and looked up and saw Jeremy. "Hey, need a ride to the historical society volunteer picnic?"

Holly closed the book, giving up for now. "Sure." She went into the hallway and saw that Elena's bedroom door was still closed. "Just a heads up Elena broke up with Stefan so try to be a little nice to her."

"I'm always nice." Jeremy argued. "Why did they broke up?"

Holly grabbed her purse. "Because apparently Katherine doesn't want to be miserable alone."

The hot sun felt terribly hot against her skin as Elena, Holly, and Caroline stood a few distance away trying to paint a veranda. Holly could see that both Elena and Stefan were trying to keep their distances. Stefan was chopping wood, though Elena was glancing every few minutes.

She saw Damon talking to Liz, though Liz looked trouble almost frightened by Damon.

"So how are things with you and Stefan?" Caroline asked.

She sighed. "The same, he's still avoiding me, he thinks Katherine might get jealous enough and hurt me."

"You said that Katherine is dangerous maybe he has a point."

"Well, we shouldn't let Katherine control our lives." Holly said furiously. Katherine had been a sore subject with her lately, as if it wasn't bad enough that she had killed her and made her into a vampire, she was slowly messing up with her and her friends' lives.

"Holly is right." Elena said. "We can't let Katherine get what she wants."

"Trouble in paradise?" Damon whispered in Holly's ear as they both watched Elena strut over to Stefan. "Are Mystic Falls' perfect couple in a bit of a row?"

Holly scowled. "Stop being such a jerk, can't you at least pretend to be considerate towards your brother's feelings?"

"Nope." He said.

Holly sighed. "Well, I tried." She noticed that Mason and Liz were talking quietly to the side. "Since when are those two friends?"

Damon frowned. "I don't know." He saw Mason smirking at him. "I knew I should have ripped his head open."

"Holly, come on!" Caroline pulled her so tightly that Holly almost dropped the paintbrush that she was carrying. She noticed that Caroline and Elena were looking pale.

She frowned. "What's wrong?"

"My mom just left looking all hurried." She bit her lip. "I think we need to follow them."

Half confused the girls went into the woods in search of Liz, but couldn't find her. Holly's ear twitched as she heard Damon's familiar voice a few miles off.

"You knew this was inevitable, Mason. Go ahead and run, I'll give you a head start."

Then she heard two gunshots. Holly gasped.

"What is it?" Elena demanded.

"It's Stefan and Damon." She said as she turned back to them. "They've been attacked, let's go." Half making sure that Caroline and Elena were following her, she made her way further into the woods, the anxiety almost killing her. Damon couldn't be dead, could he? He just couldn't, he couldn't be dead.

"They've been here." Caroline said suddenly as she bended down to inspect a plant. "See."

Before either twin could respond, Mason appeared. Holly could feel her rage burning in her stomach as he said. "What are you two doing here?"

Elena wasted no moment. "Have you've seen Stefan?"

Mason gave her a cold look. "Yes, Elena I've seen him, I've seen Damon too but I think I'll just let your friend here sniff them out." He looked at Holly and Caroline. "Does your poor aunt and your mother know what you are, because I'm happy to tell them?"

Holly prepared to launch towards him, but he gripped Elena by the neck. "Don't be stupid, necks are easy to snap."

"I can handle you." Holly said.

"Want to bet?"

"Yeah, I do." Caroline growled surprising both of them as she kicked Mason in the stomach knocking him against a tree. She turned to Holly. "I owed you one."

"Caroline that was great." Holly smiled.

Caroline gave her a weak smile. "Thank cheerleading."

Holly could hear Damon and Stefan's screams coming from the old Lockwood cellar. She let out a gasp when Damon let out a pitiful wail. "They are being killed or tortured, I don't know."

"It's my mom." Caroline said. "She's killing them."

"We have to stop them!" Elena cried out as she ran into the cellar ignoring Caroline's cries of protest.

"Holly, I can't go in there." Caroline said her face pale. "My mom can't find out about me, please."

She nodded. "Stay here . . . stay hidden." Holly walked down to the cellar and sunk her fangs into a deputy's neck. His gun went off and Holly the felt something sharp hit the back of her leg. She let out a low cry.

"Holly!" Damon grunted from the floor. "Dammit, Liz leave her alone."

"She's a vampire." Liz said her voice trembling. "She's a vampire."

There was a swish of air as Holly tried to pull the stake out of her leg. She saw a flash of blond hair, Caroline killed one of the deputies by draining him of blood while kicking one against the wall. She raised her head, her face covered with blood. "Hi, Mom."

"Feel better?" Damon asked as Holly put down the deputy that she had been drinking from. Holly nodded as she looked at Stefan who was crouched near Elena, Stefan had refused to drink human blood. "We need to get rid of the bodies, and also-"she trailed off.

"Her." Damon turned to Liz. "What am I going to do with you?"

"No," Caroline yelled. "She won't tell anyone, will you mom? I'm your daughter, he will kill you."

"Then kill me." Liz said tonelessly.

Damon approached her and there was a loud remark of protest. He turned back to them. "Relax guys no one is killing anyone." He looked at Liz. "You're my friend."

"You ok?" Holly asked quietly as Caroline exited the cellar where they were keeping Liz.

She shook her head. "No, my mom hates me and I'm scared that I had to go home because Katherine is there and she's going to want me to report back to her. I'm sorry, Holly I should have told you, Katherine has made me be her spy for days, she threatened to kill me, I'm basically the reason Stefan and Elena broke up. I'm a terrible friend."

"No, no you're not." Holly said earnestly. "Katherine threatened you, she has threatened everyone . . . just apologize to Elena, I'm sure she'll understand."

"What does Katherine want?"

"I really wish I knew."

"Caroline is sleeping on the couch." Holly told Damon as soon as he walked through the door.

"I heard." He raised a pointed look. "And you? There's plenty of room on my bed for two."

Holly forced herself not to smile. "Thanks, but no thanks. That was really nice what you did for Caroline's mom." She paused. "And also thanks for not telling anyone about my feeding on my coworkers, I'm working on it."

Damon smirked. "I'll cash in the favor sooner or later."

"I'm sure you will." Holly said closing the door behind her, feeling slightly guilty that he didn't know about her dreams.
