Chapter 33: Challenge Accepted
{K. M}
Klaus sat comfortably on the leather couch, his hands gripping a charcoal pencil lightly as his hands guided the item across the expensive paper, the light and dark lines creating an image that looked almost life-like. "Well, well, well. There's our girl," Kol teased Rebekah, who had just walked in, still sporting her ball gown.
The green dress was ripped, and her hair was long past as perfect as it was the night prior, and Klaus refrained from commenting on the strong scent of sex that radiated off of his little sisters body. "Get out of my way, Kol."
"Out all night. What a scandal. I trust you did better than that commoner." Rebekah moved from left to right, in attempt to get past her brother, but Kol blocked her path each time with a smirk. "Matt, was it?"
Hitting a nerve, Rebekah stopped. Her blue eyes glared at her younger brother. "If you don't shut your mouth, the next thing to come out of it will be your teeth." Klaus smirked, silent praise radiating off of the simple gesture in thick waves. "Don't start Nik."
An innocent look appeared in his blue eyes that looked similar to his sisters. "I didn't say anything."
Kol left Rebekah alone, his antics with her growing less and less interesting. With a loud groan, he allowed his body weight to fall onto the leather recliner. "I'm bored. Even our sister is getting more action than us. I need entertainment."
Klaus merely glanced up from his sketch book. "What are you waiting for? Go on. Have at it."
"Maybe I should call Cassie, she's very educated on proper guest hospitality."
The hybrid's grip on his pencil tightened significantly, snapping the writing utensil into multiple pieces, the dark charcoal rubbing off on his hands. "On second thought," Klaus began, attempting to breathe steadily so he didn't kill his brother. He hated that Kol called her a nickname, Klaus hated that Kol and Dakota had history in general. "—lets go together. I'll take my little brother out for a drink."
"I'm sensing jealousy."
"I have no reason to be jealous of you, Kol. She'll never leave me for you."
Rebekah cast her gaze from brother to brother, very unamused with the topic that they bickered over. "She's not a prize to be won. She's a woman who's in love, you boys are being petty and if you hurt her because of your stupid power hungry obsessions, I'll kill you both myself."

The Mikaelson brother sat at the bar, their attention grabbed as Dakota and Caroline strutted into Mystic grill wearing minimal clothing. Dakota sported a tight white dress with small triangles cut out under her breast that showed off her smooth skin. "Look who decided to join us." Kol spoke under his breath, greedily drinking in her body as he took a sip of the rum he was poured. "Doesn't she look so edible in white. So pure when we both know she's everything but."
"Say another word, and I'll tear out your liver." Dakota left Caroline on the dance floor as she took it upon herself to get the drinks. Caroline wanted to talk to someone about Tyler, who had been MIA and ignoring her. "Dakota love, how are you?"
Dakota's brown eyes viewed the sight before her, Kol and Klaus together and intact. Neither had killed one another yet, not that Kol had a chance anyway. "Not drunk enough for this conversation."
"I could change that, darling." Kol's tongue peeked out to lick his bottom lip before downing the shot and resting the empty glass on the bar. "Join us for a drink?"
"Can't," She denied. "—and even if I could, I wouldn't." Dakota stood between both men, flagging down a bartender who looked in his mid-twenties with a neatly trimmed beard and cute puppy dog eyes. "Get me two glasses of bourbon?" The man —Jude (as his name tag broadcasted)— did so without hesitation, turning to but the bottle away when Dakota reached over for his hand. "Leave the bottle?"
So star struck by the gorgeous woman, he gave her the freshly opened bottle of whiskey without even charging her. Dakota stepped back, holding the bourbon like the prize it was. "Drink's on the house boys," She walked away, leaving the two glasses with the brothers.
"Isn't she stunning?" Klaus leaned over to say to Kol as they both watched her saunter away, hips swinging to the beat of the music in a taunting way that made them want more than just a free glass of whiskey.
Kol shifted in the barstool. "She certainly looks good walking away from you." He agreed.
"I'll take that as a challenge."
The Original made his way into the crown of dancing bodies, until he met hers. "Couldn't stay away for long, could you?"
"Can we take this outside?"
Dakota contemplated it for a moment, peeking over her shoulder to see Caroline happily dancing with another guy. "Uh, sure."
It took them a second to get away from everyone, but when they got outside the cool air rustled Dakota's hair lightly. "I wanted to spend time with you, away from everyone else."
"We're not really away from everyone else, your little brother is in there and so is Caroline, who hates you with a burning passion might I add."
Klaus laughed, sitting down on a bench and scooting over to make room for her. "I've been alive for a long time sweetheart, it's going to take more than some childish hatred from some vampire fledgling to bother me."
There was a comfortable silence between the two before Klaus broke it. "Have you found any leads on Shawn?"
"About that," Dakota looked down at her hands that were free, since she'd placed it in someone else's hand as she left The Grill. "—I think I'm going to take some time away from Mystic Falls to go find him. Damon's been looking up some stuff for me, and found a possible hit on where he could be."
"Possible hit, what if it's a trap?"
Dakota shrugged, tucking a lock of hair behind her triple pierced ear. "I don't really care, Shawn's family and I'll do anything I have to do to get him back. I'll search forever if I must."
"Forever is a very long time."
"I know. That's why it's so much better to spend it with family."
