Hayes's pov://
Pick up. Pick up. Please answer.
*Ring* * Ring* *Ring*
No answer. Gosh why won't you answer!
The door slammed open and I jumped slightly and turned around seeing my mom thankfully.
"Hey honey! You're finally home! I missed you!" My mom said pulling me into an embrace.
"Missed you too mom. Where's Sky?"I asked.
"With your stepdad." She answered.
"Alone!" I panicked.
"Yes. What? Is there a problem?" She asked and chuckled slightly.
"Uh...no. Just wondering. I'm gonna go unpack some."
"Alright. I'm making pasta for dinner." She said walking into the kitchen.
I hurried upstairs into my room and tried calling again. I have no idea what to do. I should've just told my mom, but I couldn't do it. It's gonna break her heart. I am kind of worried about Sky though. I don't trust him being with her alone.
*Ring.* *Ring.* *Ring.*
No answer again. What is she doing? I'll try again later. I started unpacking some and mostly just threw everything in some drawers. I switched on the tv hoping to get my mind off things for a little while.
*Later that night after dinner*
"Hey sweetie. I'm going to the store to get stuff for breakfast in the morning. The neighbors are going to be there." My mom said peeking her head in my room and I nodded.
The neighbors are good friends with my mom and they have two kids both about Sky's age. They are really nice.
"Hayesiiieee!" Sky yelled opening my door and running to me.
She jumped in my arms and I caught her.
"I missed you so much Sky!" I said.
"I missed you way more! Can you tuck me in?" She asked.
"Of course." I smiled and picked her up and went to her room.
I put her on the bed and pulled the covers over her as she snuggled into them.
"Goodnight Skylynn. I love you." I said and kissed her forehead.
"I love you too. Goodnight." She replied and closed her eyes.
I walked out of her room, turned the lights off, and shut the door quietly and turned around face to face with my step dad.
"Didn't know you were home." He stated.
"Yeah got home this afternoon." I replied nervously.
"Room now." He said sternly.
No. Not again. I promised.
"No."
"What did you just say to me?" He asked.
