So, like's said in 'The Royal Ranger', Gilan proposed to Jenny, but she said no. The book says, that Jenny didn't want to marry Gilan, because she didn't want to leave her restaurant. Can be, but what if she had a secret reason? I think she didn't want to marry the Ranger because she was scared of losing him, like Will lost Alyss on a mission. Yeah, as the Commander of the Ranger Corps, Gilan doesn't go on many missions, but when he does go, they'll probably more dangerous than the others; otherwise the Commander would not have to go. And when he goes a dangerous mission, the change that he will return all save and sound, decreases. 

So yes, she wanted to marry him, and yes, she didn't want to leave her restaurant, but she's also scared to be allied with someone she can lose easily.

What do you think of that, eh? It made me a bit upset, to be honest. You must be very scared if you don't want to marry the love of your life just because you're scared of losing him! Gilan and Jenny are a very cute couple, though <3
