I pace back and forth in the kitchen. Rick is just sitting on a stool watching me. I have no idea how I'm supposed to tell Chase anything. I don't even think he's experienced the real world. He's treating this whole mate thing as if it's supposed to be a fairy tale. I don't do fairy tales.
I just have to find a way to tell him gently, I guess. I honestly don't know what to do. I look at the clock to see that it's already morning. I guess it doesn't matter, I don't have school.
So I guess I have a little while to think this out. I don't know what I should say, I've never had to do this. It's for his own good. I'll tell him tonight.
I don't want him finding out some other way.
I make a plan to tell him in private tonight.
I look over at Rick to see that he's falling asleep.
Later that day I start towards where I think the pack house is. I see a figure down the street. I squint and I'm able to make out the shape.
It's Chase.
"Hey Chase," I start.
"Hello, my love," he says, as he approaches. He wraps his arms around me and kisses my head. Just the feeling of myself with him is enough to make me forget everything.
"Do you want to go somewhere tonight?" I ask, my heart pounding from nervousness.
"Of course, I'll go anywhere with you. How about the lake?"
"There's a lake?"
"Yeah, it's not to far," he whispers as he brings himself close to my neck, taking in my scent.
"Alright, we can go to the lake then," I mumble, jittery from the feel of his mouth so close to the spot where my mark should be.
He releases me and grabs my hand to lead me towards the pack house. It's rather impressive with a nice modern feel to it. As Chase opens the doors, I feel eyes on me. Every wolf in the room looks at me as if I'm intruding on their life.
Then as Chase wraps his arm around my waist everyone bows their heads in recognition. They now know that I am to be their Luna. I need to show that I'm capable of being their Luna. I can't be their Luna though.
"Serenity?" I look up, to see Chase looking at me.
"Sorry, I was just thinking," he looks at me with worry. I lean in and whisper, "what if they don't like me?"
"They'll have to love you or get over it," he whispers back, kissing my temple.
"Hello everyone," he speaks proudly.
"Hello Alpha," they all say in unison.
"As you can probably tell, she will be your new Luna and I trust that you'll treat her with respect," he looks towards me expectantly.
"Hello," I say, "my name is Serenity. I hope that you'll welcome me into your home, and that I'll be able to become friends with all of you."
"Welcome Luna," they say in unison once again.
Throughout the day I'm introduced to almost all of the wolves. Then I'm given a tour and the place is so huge. I'm honestly going to get lost all the time if I stay here. I know an assassins supposed to be able to navigate any land easily, but this house is ridiculous.
As night approaches I'm taken to a room where two girls, Emily and Isa, are helping me get dressed for the lake.
They tell me how Chase told them to dress me casually so they have me put jean shorts and a white tank top with a red flannel over it. Isa gives me her red converse which actually fit.
