The Oni seemed to patiently wait until his fellow Oni arrived. His black eyes didn't let the huntress off the hook for one tiny second.

"The sooner I finish it, the less trouble I'll have later."

Yuna rushed forward, the Beretta pointed at the head of the Oni. The beast crouched and roared threatening. Once the girl was close enough in her opinion, she pulled the trigger. A bullet slammed into the skull of the Oni, which slumped down dead.

Relieved, the blue-haired laughed. Could it really be that simple? Suspiciously, she watched the body of the Oni, which slowly disintegrated. Indeed. Score one for Yuna. She relaxed a little and listened into the night.

From the surrounding bushes she heard the cracking of shattering branches and the rustling of leaves. She listened highly concentrated, to estimate how many Oni were going to attack her. At least two.

"To the left!"

She turned to the left, raised her left arm with the knife forward, rested the barrel of the Beretta on her left forearm and waited. She had seen this stance in a video game of her father. Elite soldiers apparently did this. Or it was simply a feature of the game. What did she know?

Another beast broke out of the thicket and jumped in her direction. Yuna fired two shots which hit the creature in its shoulder. The Oni fell to the ground and rolled over. Its shriek almost drowned out the other attacker.

The huntress heard, how something leaped out of the bushes at her. She lacked the time to turn and face the new opponent, so she threw herself to the side and turned while falling.

The teeth of the second Oni barely missed her. Once Yuna felt the ground under her right shoulder, and could aim with the Beretta, she fired a shot. The bullet missed its target, but the Oni recoiled for a moment. Enough time, so the blue-haired could consider how she could destroy the two monsters.

The wounded Oni seemed to have little will to fight, and licked its wounds. The other attacked now roaring. Yuna held her breath and waited. It would run directly into her knife. Indeed, the beast was so stupid and attacked her frontally. The girl took out with the knife and rammed it between the Oni's eyes as soon as it was close enough. Bloodstains met her face.

Two to zero for Yuna.

The wounded Oni decided to flee and limped away. The huntress jumped up and ran after it. Within a few moments she had caught up with it and threw herself on the beast. Two knife wounds later the Oni collapsed and began to dissolve.

Three to zero.

Yuna rolled heavily breathing on her back. This Oni hunting thing was not that difficult. She just had extremely bad luck in the sewers. How many bullets had she fired? She put the knife to the ground and pulled out the magazine. Nine bullets in the magazine. One in the barrel.

She pushed the magazine back inside and stashed the Beretta in its holster. The blue-haired took the knife and wanted to fold it, but the blade was bent. No problem.

She sat up. Should she continue to hunt? Somehow it was ... fun. She could clean up the park. Why not? As long as she still had ammunition.

Yuna got back on her feet and pricked up her ears. Wasn't there a sound right now?

The next moment she was thrown to the ground, because a beast jumped on her from a tree. The knife was beaten out of her hand on impact. Her right hand disappeared into the maw of the Oni, who struck on her with its claws. The shirt was torn within seconds and also the T-shirt was torn to pieces. She looked around for the knife. Damn, it was too far away.

The huntress fumbled her right hand around in the mouth of the Oni. She got hold of its tongue, grasped it and yanked with all her strength. The beast was choking and kicking, trying to get away from her.

Ha! It didn't expect its prey to fight back. While the beast desperately beat on her to liberate itself, Yuna dislocated her left arm to pull the Beretta from the holster.

The Oni whimpered and squealed during its struggle. As soon as the blue-haired could draw her weapon, she pressed its muzzle to the head of the Oni and shot. Its skull exploded and blood, as well as pieces of meat splashed on Yuna's face.

Four to zero.

She pulled her arm out of the remains of the head and pushed the body down from herself.

"These creatures are really dumb as fuck."

Were they? Yuna had to admit that without her power, she probably would be dead by now. If she hadn't died by the acid attack in the sewers. Or the fall out of the window.

As much as she cursed her power for taking her emotions, as grateful she was that her power kept her alive. Over and over again. It was a double-edged sword.

This inner monologue was enough to disperse her attention. Thundering roared a huge beast, which had horns like a bull, up to her and rammed the huntress with its skull.

Yuna screamed as she was thrown in a high arc through the air. She clenched her fist around the handle of the Beretta. She couldn't lose her weapon under any circumstances.

Upon impact, the air was pressed out of her lungs. The girl coughed, hastily gasping for breath. She needed a few seconds to orient herself, but the Oni already dashed towards her. She aimed her gun and shot to bullets at the approaching creature. The bullets bounced off the armored skull of the beast.

"Oh shit!"

Another hit whirled Yuna away, until she ended up cursing in a bush. What the hell should she do against this monster? Precious seconds passed while she struggled free from the branches. The Oni scrapped its paws and prepared for the next attack. Bellowing, it came stomped toward her. The huntress pushed off and found cover behind a tree. The Oni couldn't correct its course and rushed past her.

She pointed the muzzle to the back of the Oni and shot three times. Two bullets pierced its right hind leg. The beast buckled, but fought its way up again.

Where was her knife? Yuna searched the combat area. She had no idea. The Oni came more slowly at her. At least it no longer ran. Nevertheless, it took her on its horns. The huntress clawed firmly on a horn with her left hand. She pressed the muzzle of the gun to the left eye of the Oni and shot. The massive body shook, stumbled and rolled over a few times before it lay.

Okay. Slowly she had enough of this. The huntress got back up on her feet. Five to zero. She noticed the size of the last Oni.

"It counts as two." Six to zero.

The blue-haired patted dirt and sand from her torn clothes, then she searched for her knife. She put the Beretta back into her holster. Three bullets left. After a few minutes she found the knife and picked it up.

Where should she go next? Yuna looked around.

"Damn it. Didn't think you'd kill my little one. What a disappointment."

The girl gritted her teeth and turned towards the voice. Her heart stopped beating for a moment.
