be afraid,
[i ask you] do you die?
[you don't answer]
[i ask] do you bleed?
the ache inside never dies,
it brands in my soul,
[i ask] do you still believe you will not die?
[there's a silence, loud enough to bleed ears]
you shattered broken glass,
[i ask] are you afraid?
you don't live,
but yet you can break?
i will find a way,
[your breath quickens and then hitches]
[i ask] are you afraid, once you are gone- you will not be?
[your lashes flutter, and yet you do not respond. i wonder.]
to touch you,
and tear your memory

[i state] you are not to be- you are to have never been
[your words choke, somewhere behind your trachea]
but you shouldn't be afraid,
no,
you should be terrified.
