The question that had just fallen from your lips looked as if it had troubled the now, Master Assassin before you, and with a gentle and silent sigh, his eyes fell down.

"The Ripper is just a savage killer with some sick intentions I'm yet to discover." Jacob stated briskly, starting to pace away from you.

"I just don't understand what any of this would have to do with you? Why does this, Abberline fellow want to make it your business?" You queried, your eyes not leaving his silhouette which was now leaning into the window frame slightly, his hazel eyes scanning the view of the city scape now shrouded in the early dark of winter.

"He's... Aiding in protecting the Brotherhood is all." Jacob said, with yet again a rushed and dismissive tone. You could tell by the tensing of his body that he clearly didn't want to talk about what you were enquiring.

"Since when did the Brotherhood need protecting? I thought you rid yourself of Templar influence years ago." You pressed further, knowing you were testing him- and before long Jacob turned around quickly to face you, his glance firmly fixed on your (eye colour one), before he made his way back to the small table you were situated at.

"A lot has changed since you left..." He started, taking a deep breath to clearly calm the rush of thoughts. He took a seat opposite from you. "I think it's time I had a proper conversation with you about the years in which you were absent from my life." He started in a softer and more composed tone - a very sincere look in his eyes.

Now knighted and looked upon as heroes, the Frye twins were typical high esteemed guests at all of Queen Victoria's garden parties.

"I was thinking of going up to Kent in a week or so." Jacob announced from the side of the party, his sister at his side. The pair overlooked the bustling party filled with small talk and hoity laughter.

Evie let a soft sigh pass her lips.

"Is there much point, Jacob?" She asked, exchanging a glance with her younger brother, "I can almost bet that (name) has been married off with some rich Duke." She commented, linking her hands behind her back.

Silence swept Jacob as doubt crawled into his head, and occupied thoughts that as of recent had only been filled with the joy of seeing you again, to marry you like he had promised.

"And what if she hasn't? I won't know." Jacob defended quickly, his almost child like hazel eyes flickering upwards to meet Evie's critical gaze, to which she almost scoffed at him playfully like his future with you was some fantasy joke.

"You really want to risk going all the way to Kent, only for her poxy maid to open the door and tell you that (name) is busy with the children and her husband?" Evie protested, "Jacob your heart will be broken- I don't want to see that happen... Just, accept what has happened and move on." Evie advised, her tone a little lower as Jacob raised his brows in shock, a defensive look on his face.

"What? Just move on and forget how much she means to me?" He started, trying to hide his evident anger, "I can't just pretend my feelings never existed!"

"Jacob-" Evie interrupted with a sigh, looking him straight in the eyes with an emotionless stare, "I'm just trying to spare you the heartbreak. She'll be moving on, and so should you." Evie suggested, her sapphire blue eyes scanning the crowds.

"There are plenty of beautiful ladies attending this party!" She called, looking to Jacob with an encouraging smile as her hand fell softly to his broad shoulder. "Just promise me you'll atleast try Jacob? I don't like seeing you upset." Evie pleaded, her brother looking down in a slight dismay.
