Oh my gosh, I forgot to tell you about something...
The 2009 VMAS.
Kanye.
Yes, you know about this already but I forgot to write about it. I remember it perfectly.

So, on the night of the VMAS, they were announcing the winner of the award for Best Female Video. I was up against Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Kelly Clarkson, Pink and last but not least Beyoncé. He says, "The Best Female Video goes to..."

"Taylor Swift!"

Of course, my mouth hangs open, I feel delighted, amazed, this is so good. I run to the stage, take my award. I start my speech, I say, "Thank you so much! I've always dreamed about what it may be like to maybe win one of these one day, but I've never actually thought it would've happened. I sing country music, so thank you so much for giving me the chance to win a VMA award... I..." The crowd cheers, I smile.

Suddenly, I see a figure making it's way on the stage, Kanye West. Why is he coming? He steals the microphone and says, "Taylor, I'm really happy for you but I'm gonna let you finish but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time." I stare at him, shocked. Why would he steal this moment from me? Beyoncé DID have an amazing Single Ladies video, but I thought Kanye would be nicer!  Beyoncé seems happy, shocked, confused... The same emotions I'm feeling right now. Except for one. Upset.

My mom agrees that is just mean. So I wrote a song about it.

It's called: Innocent
I guess you really did it this time
Left yourself in your warpath
Lost your balance on a tightrope
Lost your mind tryin' to get it back

Wasn't it easier in your lunchbox days?
Always a bigger bed to crawl into
Wasn't it beautiful when you believed in everything
And everybody believed in you?

It's alright, just wait and see
Your string of lights is still bright to me
Oh, who you are is not where you've been.
You're still an innocent,
You're still an innocent.

Did some things you can't speak of
But at night you live it all again
You wouldn't be shattered on the floor now
If only you had seen what you know now then

Wasn't it easier in your firefly-catchin' days?
When everything out of reach, someone bigger brought down to you
Wasn't it beautiful runnin' wild 'til you fell asleep
Before the monsters caught up to you?

It's alright, just wait and see
Your string of lights is still bright to me
Oh, who you are is not what you've been
You're still an innocent
It's okay, life is a tough crowd
32, and still growin' up now
Who you are is not what you did.
You're still an innocent.

Time turns flames to embers
You'll have new Septembers
Every one of us has messed up too
Minds change like the weather
I hope you remember
Today is never too late to be brand new

It's alright, just wait and see
Your string of lights is still bright to me
Oh, who you are is not what you've been
You're still an innocent.
It's okay, life is a tough crowd
32, and still growin' up now
Who you are is not what you did
You're still an innocent.
You're still an innocent.

Lost your balance on a tightrope.
It's never too late to get it back.

I forgive him, but I could never say what he did was not cruel. Interrupting someone in general is not nice, but when I just won an award...

Anyways, there you go!

Apparently he apologized on his blog but it has since been deleted, and I never saw it. But according to abc7.com, he did. And this is what he "said".
"I'm sooooo sorry to Taylor Swift and her fans and her mom. I spoke to her mother right after and she said the same thing my mother would've said. She is very talented! I like the lyrics about being a cheerleader and she's in the bleachers!"

"I'm in the wrong for going on stage and taking away from her moment!. Beyonce's video was the best of this decade! I'm sorry to my fans if I let you guys down! I'm sorry to my friends at MTV. I will apologize to Taylor 2mrw. Welcome to the real world! Everybody wanna booooo me but I'm a fan of real pop culture!"

And then he apologized on TV.

"I immediately knew in the situation that it was wrong and it wasn't a spectacle," he said. "It's actually someone's emotions that I stepped on. It was very, it was rude, period. I'd like to be able to apologize to her in person."

"I just ashamed that my hurt caused someone else's hurt," he added. " I don't try to justify it because I was just in the wrong, that's period."

He still said Beyoncé had a better video than me. He's not saying anything the other way... It is nice of him to apologize, but he actually NEVER reached out to me personally to say sorry. I think it's all for the publicity.

Then, I got to talk about HIM on The View,
"I think my overall thought process went something like, 'Wow, I can't believe I won, this is awesome, don't trip and fall, I'm going to get to thank the fans, this is so cool. Oh, Kanye West is here. Cool haircut. Kanye West is here. Cool haircut. What are you doing there?'" I said. "And then, 'Ouch,' and then, 'I guess I'm not gonna get to thank the fans.'"

The next day though, he did call me. He was very sincere in his apology, I accept that one. Nice job Kanye.
