18. Bad Boys

When you saw Aubrey in the halls, you didn't think of her as the gorgeous girl who was kind to everybody. You saw the girl who cheated on Lexis, a guy who had such a great heart.

You started to see him for who he was – a broken boy who just needed a friend to talk to.

He started sitting next to you again in Biology class, and you both drew in the sketchbook he gave you.

When he was late to class one day, you started on a new project. It was a surprise for Lexis, and you hoped he would like it. You didn't tell or hint to him about it. The idea came to you when you were sleeping last night.

He came to class, and after being scolded by Mrs. Handley, sat down in his permanent seat. Nobody dared to take his spot.

Lexis scanned the drawing you started. There was a boy with no face. In his hands held two masks – one with a frown and tears streaming down its face, and the other consisted a smile.

His heart pounded in his chest.

You had a smile on your face, and murmured,"Do you like it?"

Lexis couldn't move. That sketch was for him. "How could I not?"

You bit your lip, trying to contain a smile.
