Brittney picked up her phone from the desk, she was still thinking about the guy who had just called.
And only then did she remember where she had heard the voice.
This was the voice she had heard in Katherine's shop, when she thought she had called Michael and was talking to him.
The guy she had called was not Michael. No, of course it was not him! How could she not even notice?
Maybe I was way too excited to even care, she thought.
She knew Michael all too well. She could identify his voice from anywhere. She remembered his number as if it was her own house phone number, she knew his favorite food, his favorite place, she even knew which shirt was his favorite!
Love makes people blind, and sometimes creepy too.
Michael was the kind of guy who sounded rather loud on a phone and flirted all the time if there was a girl on the other side. This voice sounded husky, rather torn and tired. It could not be him.
Brittney looked at her phone in horror. What had just happened?
She had no idea who had answered Michael's phone and how that guy had her number in the first place. After all, the call was supposed to be 'anonymous'!
And even if it sounded bitter, she knew for a fact that Michael would never even care to have her number saved in his cell.
After standing there in front of her desk for several minutes in complete daze, Brittney moved to the bed in slow, small steps. While opening the cheese sandwich from the plastic wrapper, she stared at the unknown number.
415-5*9-6**8.
Yes, the number looked exactly like Michael's, just one digit in the middle varied. If it was him, she would have the number saved in her phone.
She got utterly confused, about everything. And there was just one way to find everything out.
She took a bite of the sandwich and tapped on the 'message' option. Then she sent a quick message to the unknown number .
How did you get my number?
