I looked through my closet to find something decent to wear for today. After a few moments of searching for an outfit, I gave up. I was just going to meet my mother anyway. So, I just put on a pair of shorts with the first top I found. I brushed my hair quickly and then I brushed my teeth. I was ready to go see the devil. Oh, wait. I ran back to my room and found a bracelet that matched my top so I put it on before joining Lauren in the car. She was going to drive me to the café where she set up the rendezvous.

"So, you sure you're ready for that?" She asked once I sat in the passenger seat.

No. "Yeah."

"Okay, well let's go." She said while starting the car.

She started to drive to the café. I wasn't scared about this or even nervous. Not at all. I just really wanted this to be over. I honestly didn't know how I would react when I'd see her. I mean, after the way she treated me and what happened in the last two days -mainly because of her- I knew I wouldn't act as if nothing had happened and things were normal and okay. But, I didn't know if I would rip her head off or slap her across the face or yell at her or just don't talk to her. The only thing I knew was that no matter what she'd say, I'd still hate her to death.

"Are you sure you don't want me to come with you?" She asked once she entered the parking lot.

I nodded. I was sure of something else: no matter what happened in that café, I didn't want Lauren to see or hear this. It was a mother-daughter meeting anyway. But I shouldn't even call her my mother anymore...

"I'm sure. I'm a big girl now; I can handle this on my own." I answered mockingly, pushing my thoughts away.
And she smiled. "Okay, well I'll be here when you get out."
I gently shook my head and chuckled. "You can go home, Lauren. It's okay."

God, she looked more stressed out than I was supposed to be. She chuckled as well and I thanked her for the ride before I got out of the car and walked to café's entrance. The place was totally full. All the tables were taken except maybe for one or two of them and there was a long line at the counter. I looked around and I finally found Melissa. She was sitting alone at a table for two, obviously waiting for me. I sighed; deep down, I kind of wished she wouldn't have come. But she was there so I walked up to her. She lifted her head when she heard my footsteps coming her way and she smiled when she saw me. Wait, she smiled?

"Oh, Summer. Hi." She greeted as she stood up.

I saw her taking a step forward and opening her arms to give me a hug, but I stepped back immediately. There was no way I would hug her.

"Melissa," I said coldly with a small and sharp nod.

She almost looked hurt. But, seriously, what did she expect me to do? She wanted me to hug her, tell her that I had missed her and that I wanted things to go back to the way it was before the accident? Because if that was what she wanted, she was going to be disappointed. She cleared her throat and gestured me to sit down in front of her. I hesitated a bit, but I finally did.

"Wow, you've changed so much," She remarked.

"Yeah, well it's been more than two years." My answer was dry but she did not deserve more.

She didn't respond right away and it became awkward for quite a while. I had actually expected things to get awkward, especially after the way we left things and all the time we spent apart.
