500 years.

It had been just over 500 years since there had been a Tatia doppelgänger. That's how long Katherina Petrova had been a vampire. That's how long Trevor and Rose had been on the run.
You see, Trevor betrayed Elijah and the rest if the Mikaelson's when he aided the first doppelgänger in her great escape from Klaus. With blood in her system the selfish girl killed herself signing both Trevor and his loyal companion Rose's death certificate.

So when Elijah got the call from Rose and Trevor asking to meet he couldn't help but let his curiosity get the best of him. Now, here he was, at an undisclosed location with said betrayers and a Tatia look alike. He and Klaus had been waiting a long time for another doppelgänger to be born and here she was right before his eyes.

Finally.

"We have a long journey head of us. We should be going."
"Please, don't let him take me." Elena shook her head pleading with Rose and Trevor
"One last piece of business and we're done."

He strolled over towards Trevor slowly.
"I've waited so long for this day, Elijah. I'm truly, very sorry." Trevor's voice shook with each word, staring at the floor.
"Oh no, your apologies are not necessary." He began circling
"Yes, yes it is. You trusted me with Katerina and I failed you." While Elijah circled him, Trevor shuttered.
"Oh yes you are the guilty one and Rose helped you because she was loyal to you and that now I honor. Where was your loyalty?" He stopped in front of him.
"I beg your forgiveness." Trevor pleaded finally meeting Elijah's eye.
"So granted." He nodded.

It happened quickly. Before the relieved smile could fully form on Trevor's face, with a swift swipe of his arm Elijah removed Trevor's head from his body. Rose cried out, her undead heart aching.

"You!!" She took a few steps toward Elijah feeling betrayal and a loss all at once.
"Don't, Rose, now that you are free" he warned.

Where Rose went wrong?

Well Elijah, a man of his word, never said he'd pardon Trevor as well. His specific words to Rose were 'I will pardon you'.

Looking at Elena he held his hand out to her gesturing for her to move forward.

"Come."
"No and what about the moonstone?" Elena's voice shook as tears streamed down her face.
"What do you know about the moonstone?" He questioned curiously.
"I know that you need it and I know where it is."
"Yes."
"I can help you get it" Elena forced out.
"Tell me where it is."
"It doesn't work that way." She shook her head.

Amused he grinned slightly sparing a look at Rose.

"Are you negotiating with me?" He asked Elena humor present in his voice.

Deciding that he wasn't going to play Elena's game, he attempted to compel it out of her only to find she wore a vervain necklace.

"What is this vervain doing around your next?"

Elijah ripped it off the necklace before compelling the answer out of her. With a few simple questions he had all the information he needed.  The moon stone was back in Mystic Falls in the tomb with Katherine.

Before he could ask any more questions shattered glass grabbed his attention.

"What is that?"
"I don't know." Rose spoke through clenched teeth.
"Who else is in this house?" Elijah's patients was running thin.
"I don't know!"

Attempting to get away, Elena was caught immediately and forced up the stair. As Eljah headed for the door, a tight grip on the doppelgänger a arm, he felt the breeze of someone vamping behind him. He pushes her towards Rose the vamping happening again.

"Rose." The way he said her name was a threat all on its own.
"I don't know who it is." She swore.
"Up here." A voice teased.

Following it up the staircase a different voice taunted 'Down here' before receiving an error in his hand.

Removing it let out a small sigh he began to descend down the stairs.

"Excuse me. To who may be concern, you're making a great mistake if you think that you can beat me. You can't. Do you hear that?."

He breaks a wooden coat rack into making a giant stake, thus continuing.

"I repeat, you cannot beat me. So I want the girl, I'm gonna count to 3 or heads will roll. Do we understand each other?"

"I'll come with you but just please don't my friends," Elena appeared at the top of the stairs. "they just wanted to help me out."

Using his speed he was in front of her in an instant, stake still in hand.

"What game are you playing with me?" He cut his eyes at the human.

Without any words She throws a vervein bomb in his face, exploding. His skin burns but he heals immediately, leaving her shocked.
Advancing toward Elena he was intercepted by another vampire who shots him repeated with the compresses air weapon. When the vampire sees it doesn't hurt him, he throws the weapon and rushes on Elijah, the two falling down the stairs. Elijah gets up immediately but another of his kind arrives and stakes Elijah. Slowly but surely he begins to desecrate.

A few hours later....

Elijah is still impaled but he wakes up and removes the stake from his chest.

"Young vampires and their ignorance." He mumbled as he stood to his feet dusting himself off. The task at hand was proving to be slightly more difficult than he imagined. Pulling out the cellular device from the pocket inside his blazer he pressed two buttons before pressing the receiving end to his ear.

"Hello, Elijah. How are you dear brother?" A sweet voice picked up the other line.""
"Evangeline. I'm so happy you picked up. "

"I'm good, but Eli, it isn't Thursday. Though I'm glad you called, is everything alright?"
"I'm afraid not Eve." He paused momentarily. "It's the curse. Seems we have a little bit of a problem."

"The cursed placed on Niklaus?" She asked if there was any other that mattered to him. "How is Nik?"

"That would be the problem Eve. He's currently trying to break it."
"Where are you?" Evangeline asked not skipping a beat.

Elijah couldn't help but grin. He knew she'd do anything for either of them even after her claim to have washed her hands of Niklaus a century ago.

"Home."

There was a brief silence before a soft sigh was heard.

"I'm on my way."
