Parker's POV
I felt a hard nudge in my side, and my eyes immediately shot open.
Fuck, I'd fallen asleep in class. Again.
I glanced over at my frat brother, Tyrel, who was back to taking notes, his gaze straight forward.
I took a long sip of my ice cold water, like that was going to do anything to aid in my exhaustion. But I was severely lacking in the caffeine department, so water was going to have to do.
My professor was droning on, in his perfectly-trained monotone voice, about Chromosomal mutations.
I glanced down at my notes. The last thing I'd jotted down was that each human contained 23 pairs of Chromosomes, 46 in total. How the fuck did we get here?
I just flipped to a new page in my Notebook, jotting down the current notes. I didn't have time to fill in the blanks, and I didn't want to miss the current information too.
My phone buzzed in my pocket as I took another long sip of my ice cold water, trying to force myself to keep awake.
I slid my phone onto my desk, checking to see that it was a text from Emily.
INCOMING CALL FROM BABE.
CALL DECLINED.

I leaned against the doorway, peering out into the common area where a few of the pledges where having an arm wrestling competition.
"There's a secret to that you know," I spoke up, pushing myself off of the door frame and striding out into the common area.
"A secret to arm wrestling?" one of the pledges, I think his name is Mike, challenged. "Bullshit."
"Square up," I said, placing my elbow out on the table.
"You out-muscle me," he stated.
"I'm at no advantage," I declined.
Everybody in the frat house knew of my overdose a couple of weeks ago. And it wasn't a secret that my sleeping pattern had been spotty. It'd been spotty before I gave up caffeine, but now it was definitely worse.
