Chapter 31
[Marie's POV]
"Hey, Ethan can you pass the salad?" I ask gingerly.
In response, he just grunts pushing his food around his plate, purposely ignoring me.
I roll my eyes in irritation, "Ethan, hand me the fu-"
"Got it! Here you go." Nick politely pushes the salad bowl across the coffee table in front of me.
Breathing out a sigh, I pass a polite nod to Nick in thanks. He returns my gesture with a kind smile.
"Great, so you wanna fuck her too then?" Mr. Grinch smirks, eyeing the both of us.
"What the fuck are you talking about, bro?" Nick asks with his eyes slanted at his brother. In fact, everyone including me are looking at him like he's a nutcase.
Coolly, Ethan pulls his gaze away from his plate to grace us with his wonderful gaze.
Huh. Wonderful my ass.
"I said, you wanna fuck her too then?" Ethan repeats himself.
"Ethan chill out with that bull-"
"Nonono. You sittin up here makin googly eyes with my girl. You must wanna fuck her." He explains his dumb logic.
"Your girl?" Please.
At my comment, Ethan turns his eyes to me. "Yes." He says it so confidently that I almost believe him, but it doesn't work out like that.
I can't help but let a bubble of laughter escape me. Real, genuine laughter. I laugh so hard everyone, including Ethan, are looking at me like I've lost my mind.
"You...think...that's gold." My laughter quickly dies. "I'm not your and anyone's girl. I can fuck, please, be with anyone I want to. You don't like it? I don't fucking care." I go back to my plate, stabbing at pieces of meat in my mouth, "And for the record, it takes more than a couple fucks to get me back buddy."
The air is stiff with tension, but I could really care less.
He's the one that lied to me. I have nothing to feel sorry for.
Except for maybe ruining my sister's couch.
"Fine!" He barks standing up and storming out of the living room into the kitchen and dumping his plate in the sink. He stops momentarily by the door to slip his shoes on before opening and slamming the door shut after him.
"At least he cleaned his plate." Brittany lamely offers with a slight smile.
I turn my annoyed eyes to her. "You should've warned me that he was coming. That was a really dick move." I spit, getting up to wash off my plate in the kitchen.
"I know and I'm sorry." Beth apologizes, walking in the kitchen to do the same.
Probably sensing a fight, Nick comes to stand at his girlfriend's side, "I better go." Silently he places a kiss to Beth's cheek and set his plate in the sink. He turns to exit out of the kitchen to put his shoes on before heading out the door, leaving me and my sister in silence.
"And just for the record," I whirl around to face her. "It's really annoying how you two are so persistent on Ethan I being together. Stop trying to meddle with my love life and focus on yours."
"Woah there. I was trying to help. Don't be a bitch to me just because you guys can't figure out how to be mature adults about this."
There it goes, the 'I'm older than you so I'm wiser' argument. "It doesn't matter about maturity-"
