This is getting ridiculous.

I walked into school with Bailey, because I spent the night at her place, and I'm greeted with a glare and a hair flip from Tati. I know she doesn't trust me, but Bailey does.

And it makes Tati mad, but I've getting to the point where I just get so tired of trying with her and then her completely shutting me out. I know she doesn't owe me anything. She doesn't need to be with me if she doesn't want to, but they way she looks at me between the avoiding; and the anger; the way she kissed me before. It makes it hard to move on, because I've felt the way she feels about me

I want to give her the space she needs. But our parents are best friends, I see her all the time. Every time I see her, even when her face is all scrunched up with annoyance, I'm reminded of everything that's perfect about her and it pulls me right back. But now, I'm starting to question if it's worth it. Especially after seeing where Bailey and Sean are headed...

She wanted me to prove it, but doesn't even pay attention to anything I'm doing. Since she asked me to, I haven't slept with another girl. I stopped way before that.

My day goes by in a blur. Stuck in my head, I'm teetering between in lovesick and sick and tired. Before I know it, I'm walking into 4th period, dodges one of the long brown tables that our school has set up in rows. I look at around the room and Bailey and Tati are sitting in the last row, talking to each other

Bailey sees me walk in and waves to me, Tati doesn't even turn.

I take my seat in the row front of the girls, directly in front of Bailey, and turn around to face them.

"Hey guys."

"Hey Gabe!" Bailey greets. It's not as bright as usual, but there's a smile on her face. She's trying to act like everything normal. On instinct, I reach forward and grab her hand, squeezing it in what I hope is a comforting way. She squeezes back and I pull my hand away with a smile. Tati rolls her eyes and pulls out her phone. Bailey's arm moves towards Tati under the table. She jumps at the contact and glares at Bailey, then turns to me.

"Hey Gabe," she mumbles

"Oh, so I do exist?" I didn't mean for it to come out the way it did. Bailey looks at me surprised and Tati glares at me.

"What's that suppose to mean?"

"Oh I don't know," I say, anger building, "You've just ignored me the past few weeks, except to yell at me for no apparent reason of course, after saying we should try to be friends, then saying to stay away from you, and the talking to me again. So that's what I mean. I thought we were in the ignoring phase again"

"Oh, I'm SORRY. I forgot you probably have other girls to talk to"

She rolls her eyes and turns back towards Bailey, I assume that was the end of this conversation

Before I can stop myself, I stand up in front of her quickly, my chair topples over with a crash.

"Mr. Deguzman!" The teacher yells behind me, but ignore her and stare straight at Tati.

"WHY ARE YOU BEING SUCH A BITCH."

I stop myself and breathe slowly I can feel the whole class starting at me, but at this point I could care less. She obviously doesn't care about me. Why try? I hang my head down and speak in a low voice.

"I'm done."

I grab my backpack and walk out of the class. I hear the teacher call my name, but I just keep walking. She can give me detention next week if she wants. I just need to get out of here.

I slam the door shut behind me and make my way down the hall; making a whole three steps before the sounds of door opening and clicking shut echoes through the hallway. Sighing, I turn around expecting the teacher, but I see Bailey instead, walking towards me.

She walks right up to me and smiles warmly. The kind of smile that makes you feel like everything is going to be okay, that puts a little bit of warmth in your bones. Her hands reaches forward and takes mine, leading me out of the school quietly. I follow without a word, it's not till we get to her car that I speak.

"Where are we going?"

"Out." She says simply and gets into the drivers seat.

"why?" She looks at me, confused before saying,

"Oh, I'm sorry did you wanna go back to class?"

I stop talking and she drives.

I watch Gabe as he runs out the the classroom. My heart feels heavy in my chest. I turn to Bailey and she has a worried expression on her face.

"Make sure he's okay," I say, nodding towards the door.

She nods in response and quickly makes her way out the door, ignoring the teacher's calls.

I sit down at the table with Ken and time passes I realize that Gabe isn't here.

"Where Gabe?" I ask Ken. He opens his mouth to speak, but Boogie beats him to it.

"I heard he ran out of fourth period with Bailey after yelling at Tati"

I look toward the girl's table and sure enough Bailey's not there. Just a very solemn looking Tati. She looks up and catching my eye. We hold eye contact for a second before she sighs and looks down at her food. I take a chance and text her. She's still my friend and she looks like she's having a hard time.

I've never been on this road Bailey is taking me before. The sun is high in a clear blue sky and the sides of the road is filled with wide expanses of grass and tall trees that go on for miles; It feels like a scene that should only exist in a movie or a fairy tale. I don't know if it's okay to speak so I don't. Instead, I soak in the silence and enjoy the peace. We've been driving for an hour already.

Bailey rolls down the window and the wind blows gently through, the faint smell of salt floating inside with it.  The picture outside my window shifts, and becomes more familiar; turning into a beach with a glimmering sea. It's a little bit longer before she parks the car.

"We're here "
