Dear Sydney,

To start off, I do love Christmas and celebrate it. It's my favorite time of the year, and I think it's so great in both the worldly and the religious aspects. I don't know if that sounds nerdy to you, but hey, it's how I feel, and like you said before, you want to be able to tell each other things.

I'm impressed that you took that long to say "I love you". Most people in my grade and at my school in general say "I love you" within a week of being together, and it always seems so fake. How can they know that quickly? How do they know it's real? It just doesn't make any sense to me that they feel comfortable saying something like that and claiming to feel it when it is honestly virtually impossible for them to feel that way so quickly. Also, I'm glad to hear that you have your friend Jen. I saw her on twitter last week and I'm glad that you have someone, like I have Trey. It's always good to have someone to fall back on, since you never know how everyone else is going to play out, even the people closest to you...or at least, who you think are closest to you.

Also, you're completely right; Ashely doesn't know how to apologize. She thinks that she is doing the right thing, and she might have been at the beginning, but when she gets all defensive and angry, it makes the apology seem worthless, you know? Kinda like she was just saying it for show and she didn't mean a word of it. She acts like she's the victim now, and she's really not; she's the one who messed up, and so she's the one who should most definitely not be seen as the victim. But then again, that's just my biased rambling, so you let me know your perspective; sometimes I need someone to make me more level-headed.

By the way, again, you didn't need to apologize for what happened with Ashley. I know she can be a piece of work and I don't let her get to me anymore, she just gets jealous easily and jumps to conclusions; she was the same way when we were dating. I wasn't allowed to have any female friends, and if I did, she had to be friends with them too so that she knew there wasn't a problem. Please don't feel bad, she knows about this assignment and she knows deep down that nothing's going on. Don't let anything she says get to you or offend you in the slightest.

Speaking of your apology, since it was on Facebook messenger, I was just wondering if you maybe wanted to exchange phone numbers? You totally don't have to, I was just thinking since we've been getting along pretty well (at least in my eyes), we could maybe talk more than just in the letters. We could still write them, of course—we are being graded on how well we can communicate, after all—but you know, since we've both been kind to each other online I figured we could at least chat a bit more than the bi-daily letters. Just let me know! If you're not comfortable, I totally understand.

Speaking of how much we talk, I am taking off the next weekend to an extended Christmas vacation with my family, so I won't be able to write the letters or receive them, since I won't be at home. I just wanted to let you know so that you don't think I'm ignoring you, but texting would give us another opportunity to continue talking while I'm away. I'm assuming I'll get your letter on Wednesday, and I'll write you Friday, and then after that we'll just see what happens with communication.

In regards to your TV show comments, I can't believe we like the same shows! As I told you, my favorite Friends character is Joey, and Chandler is definitely second. I agree that Ross is last, but I like Monica more than Rachel and Phoebe more than Monica. Did that make any sense? In other words, my order is Joey, Chandler, Phoebe, Monica, Rachel, Ross. Sorry. I confuse myself even. My favorite Parks and Rec characters are Chris and Leslie; they're both just so bubbly and fun, and I love them for that. I love Ron and April too, and of course Ben and Chris and Donna and Tom and...everyone else. That one has a lot of characters. Jim and Pam are my favorite TV couple (even over Chandler and Monica) and I know that probably makes me sound like a girl, but I'm okay with it; if Jim didn't show guys how to treat girls then no one possibly can. Michael is also hilarious. My parents hate him because they feel awkward, but I think it's great.

Sorry that that was a lot of TV talk. I hope you're not bored with me, and I hope that you had fun Christmas tree shopping with your family. Thanks again for adding me on Facebook and remember to ignore my ex, she's just bad news all around.

Yours Truly,

Connor Hall
