The day had been tiring and the night will be long. A man walks down the sidewalk of a suburban sidewalk, mentally preparing for the long walk home. He had just come home from the hospital, as he does almost every day to check in on his mother, unfortunately losing her battle with cancer. She was extremely ill and he was unsettled by the fact that there was no way he could help her. His only focus was to get home as quickly as he could. He had yet to feed his dog, who's face lit up every time he walked through the door of his home. He thought about the dog to get his mind off of his dying mother. The weather was colder than he was used to but he didn't pay much attention to it. He simply continued walking his linear path towards home and following his routine that had gone uninterrupted since his mother was diagnosed.
