I was pretty silent at dinner. I kept trying to think of ways to tell my dad that I was back with Tyler. It wasn't easy. I didn't want him to freak out.
Every time I tried to mention doing something with Tyler at PAX he'd cut in with some snippy comment about how he's glad I'm not dating that asshole anymore or how that's an asshole thing for Tyler to say considering you're not even friends.
Then it hit me. Maybe if I were to ween my dad back into Tyler he wouldn't hate him. I could tell him that we were sort of friends again, then it could grow from their. It isn't a good idea to throw this all on him in one night.
In all honesty it should probably be like that anyway. I shouldn't have just let him back in like that but I felt like it was the right thing for me. For us. We were both miserable without each other.
So, that being said, I decided to tell my father Tyler and I have decided to be friends again. After the last snide comment my dad made that I could take, I said something.
"Dad, actually Tyler wasn't bad at all on this trip. He was a perfect gentleman."
My dad frowned at me, "What are you saying, (Y/N)?"
"I'm just saying that he's not an asshole like you think he is anymore. He was... different."
"So, what? You're friends with him again?"
I move the food on my plate around a little, "I- Yes. I am. We're friends again now. I've been talking to him over the trip and he's definitely changed, grown up even."
He scoffed, "Yeah, I'd have to see that."
"I could ask him over for dinner," I suggested, "I'd like that."
"(Y/N), are you really asking to have that scum-"
"Stop calling him that!" I defended quickly, so tired of the stupid jabs.
Dad gritted his teeth, "Are you really asking to have the boy who broke your heart over to dinner?"
"Yes," I answered.
"Fine. Show me he's changed. I don't believe you."
"I will," I promise, locking eyes with him.
We glare at each other for a few more seconds before Mom breaks the silence. "Will someone pass me the butter?"
We look over to her at the same time and she smiles sweetly at us. I pass her the butter.

"I think that maybe it would be best to start by saying we're friends again," I told Tyler later on the phone.
"What?"
"I mean, like, telling him we're dating again is just a little much to drop on him, but friends he can handle."
"Oh, alright. If that's what you think is best," Tyler said.
"Glad you agree because I already told him."
"You-"
"And I asked if you could come to dinner tomorrow."
"What? I'm coming to dinner to tomorrow? With your family who hates me? That's great. That's awesome," he complained sarcastically.
"Oh quiet," I told him, "It'll be fine. I'll protect you if my dad punches you."
"Oh god, is he going to like pull out a shotgun and lay it on the table too?"
I snorted at the thought, "Yeah, right. Look it'll be fine. I promise."
"You better be right."
"I am." I hoped I was, but I didn't say that.

A/N: Alright I have to say it, I'm terrible at this story. I haven't been updating and I know it and I'm sorry. I just have no inspiration for it and I feel like it's super boring.
I'm going to try to keep going but I'm honestly thinking about calling it quits and ending this. It's not what I wanted it to be and I feel like it's just trash.
I'm really sorry to disappoint you guys, but I don't know what to do with this.
So yeah, I guess we'll see what happens.
As always,
