Kieran

Three days left until the WG thought we'd be nesting by old north portal. It was far enough from the capital that it should take them at least a day to move their forces into the city and we would wait for them to move. We'd wait for them to seek us out when hiding, letting them see us sometimes, Thomas was sure that Fey would be there but he wasn't 100% certain that she would hesitate on killing us, He hoped she'd stop and think long enough for us to seize her and bring her back to help her out from the brainwashed state she would be in.

"Ki?...are you awake?" Neatori's voice shook me away from my thoughts, I thought she had been asleep. I looked around until my eyes fell on the small blue digital numbers shining on the wall. Nearly two in the morning "Should you even be awake?" I smile shifting in my seat so that the faint night light turned on. "It's morning soon" I laughed and saw her trying to get up but gently nudged her back down and pulled up the covers. "You should definitely sleep Tori, patrol change isn't even near happening yet" She frowned and her eyes darkened when she saw the shape of the metal braces keeping her legs in the right angles so that they'd heal properly, they'd heal but she would never walk again. "It's okay Tori, there are a million other things about you that outshines this, I promise" She sniffed and nodded but patted the space beside her motioning for me to sit with her. She scooted to the side and I sat down on the cot with her, she hugged me tight and I could feel her tears dampening my shirt but couldn't care less. This little girl who had loved all kinds of sports and had actually had a chance to become a WG athlete, she'd had a chance to make a name for herself and live a good life, she'd had her life ruined when the WG bombed her hometown. The WG had chosen to bring the entire city down because they knew that a rebel base was there and because they didn't find it they brought the entire city down, bombed it to oblivion. The worst part of it was that we hadn't been able to set up base there, we could only escape with a few precious lives.

"Kieran? Aren't you supposed to be on patrol?" Selene's voice woke me up and I avoided twitching awake to not wake Neatori. My eyes automatically searched for the blue digital numbers. 05:17 I was an hour and seventeen minutes late for patrol change, Thomas would bite my head off later. I sighed and Selene grinned "Keep sleeping, I'll tell Thomas you're busy being a babysitter" She took the book on Neatori's nightstand and replaced it with a new book. This little girl read faster than I had ever imagined someone could read. "It's starting to become more difficult to find books that she hadn't read" I grinned at her and looked down at Neatori who was peacefully asleep. "She'll have read every book in rebel possession soon, She'll probably want to read the reports and Thomas's notes" Selene chuckled and took off her bracelet, she only ever took it off when she went to the medical wing to help. "I'll be back with breakfast soon, you should sleep" There was only one reason that the medical wing needed help and that was when soldiers had arrived from their missions. "are they back?" Selene's eyes darkened and her smile disappeared. "I don't know who's back but there's only two SUV's in the garage, Taylor asked me to help" Taylor was the lead medic here but she only asked for help when her apprentices weren't enough. "It's bad then..." She squared her shoulders. "The third vehicle could have been spotted by the WG and left behind, they could all have cramped up in the two SUV's...Taylor has been asking me why I don't become her apprentice anyways so this might not be so bad" She tried to be positive and as much I wanted to believe that everyone were home safely, I knew that hoping for too much only made the disappointment and grief bigger.

Selene walked out and I laid back down taking her advice, I should sleep. I had barely slept these past two weeks, the thoughts of Felicity and the WG had kept me up. Thomas didn't help either, He had been taking rather risky decisions by trusting that the WG would use the false information that Felicity had been given. He counted on that and made his plans according to the plans that the WG thought we had. He seemed to be playing by ear and that's not what he used to do. I sighed and closed my eyes, shutting every sound out until darkness fell around me and sleep finally caught up with me.
