Flashlight

Abby's pov://

We walked into Dylan's room and sat down on one of the beds.

"Tru-" Dylan started only to be cut off by Andrea.

"Boring. That's all we ever play. We need to do something more fun." She shrugged.

"I have an idea." I smirked and everyone looked at me. "How about at midnight, we shut off all the lights in the hotel and play flashlight hide and seek?" I suggested.

"No way! We can't do that." Daniel replied.

"Oh come on... Have a little fun." I nudged him with my elbow.

"Okay but babe, if we get in trouble, I'm blaming it on you." He joked and I slapped his arm.

"Everyone in?" Tez asked and everyone nodded in agreement.

"Here's the plan. Alright so we can use our phones as flashlights. At midnight, Daniel and I will sneak down to the-"

"I never agreed to that." Daniel interrupted.

"Okay fine... Hayes, you in?" I asked.

"For sure." He replied.

"Okay so at midnight, Hayes and I will sneak down to the control room and power off all the lights. That will be the sign to start the game. We will work in pairs and Hayes," I looked at Hayes. "We'll already be together. So we will be partners. And everyone else find partners."

After everyone found partners, I asked "So who's going to find people first?" I asked.

"Me and Ariel will." Daniel volunteered.

"Alright, so it's set." I said placing my hands together in excitement.

The clock struck 12 and everyone looked at each other smiling in anticipation.

"You ready?" I asked Hayes and he nodded.

We left and quietly went down the stairs. We opened the door to the lobby quietly and saw a person at the front desk and the room with all the controls close to it.

"We need a distraction." I whispered to Hayes.

He nodded and pulled out his phone. A couple minutes later, Tez came strolling out of the elavator and headed towards the front desk. The half asleep lady looked up and they spoke as we crept towards the control room.

"I swear, I'm pregnant and I don't know what to do." Tez exclaimed and I held in a giggle.

He is the best. We made it to the door and it as locked. Shoot. I dug in my pockets for a Bobby pin and finally found one. Let's just say we've been locked out of the cheer gym quite a few times and my house. I unlocked the door in half a second and opened it slowly. It creaked and I stopped hoping she didn't hear. Thankfully she didn't and I squeezed through the barely open door and Hayes followed. The room was much smaller than I expected...smaller than a closet even. Hayes and I were smushed against each other as I closed the door.

We used the light in our phones to search the wall of buttons.

"Found it. Main halls off. Gym off. Pool off. Rooftop off. And leave the lobby on so she doesn't notice." Hayes whispered pressing buttons.

"Perfect." I relied and was about to open the door when Hayes grabbed my arm.

"Hold on let me make sure Tez is still distracting." He said and got on his phone. "Oh shit." He mumbled.

"What?" I asked.

"She's coming over here. Look for a way out." He replied looking around the dark room lit up by our phone screens.

"Vent." I said and pointed to the ceiling.

Hayes nodded and picked me up and I lifted the bottom off it easily and slid into it. It was a rather large vent. Hayes put a foot against the wall and boosted himself up and grabbed onto it pulling himself to up into the vent. I placed the bottom back on right as the doorknob jiggled. It opened after about a minute and she walked in but looking at the opposite set of switches. I looked closely and she was only changing the lobby thermostat. Thank goodness.

I sighed in relief and leaned back speaking quietly "So what do we do now?" I asked as the lights switched off and the door closed once again.

"I think this makes a pretty good hiding spot." He smirked looking around satisfied and I nodded in agreement.

We sat in there for a few minutes when it started getting colder. I rubbed my arms and pulled my knees to my chest trying to keep warm. Hayes noticed and pulled me to him. He wrapped his arms around me keeping me warm.

"What if I fall asleep?" I asked with my eyes half closed.

"I don't know. Just go to sleep if you want." He replied shrugging.

I turned around and leaned on him and shut my eyes. I am beyond exhausted.

"I'm so happy to have my best friend back." I said sleepily.

"Me too." He chuckled and kissed my head as I drifted off to sleep.
