Chapter Three

I'll take you home no matter what

After school, my parents worked late like every night. I sat by my window and watched the rain softly fall. I climbed out my window and sat on the fire escape route, I leaned against the railing and watched the rain fall. It was peaceful.

"I like rain too." Jax now stood next to me.

"It's peaceful." I said, never letting my eyes off of the rain.

"I want you to meet the rest of the team." He said and shyly smiled.

"Who else is there?" I asked and turned to him.

"Harvey, and Vanessa-Rachel." He said and turned to me, "You'll probably like Rachel, she's cool."

We got to the warehouse and hid inside from the pounding rain.

"Harvey, Rachel, Lucifer, Clancy!" Jax called out.

"What!" A sharp feminine voice snapped. A girl stepped out of the shadows, she had short blonde hair and vivid blue eyes. "Whose she?" The girl asked and popped her blowing bubble gum.

"Rachel, Opal. Opal, Rachel." Jax said and smiled.

Rachel huffed and walked up to me studying me, "Why's she here? She looks like no killer." Rachel asked, she had a slight southern accent by the way she talked.

"S-she's different. I had a good feeling about her." Jax said and watched nervously as Rachel examined me.

"Ok." She shrugged and plopped on the couch in the center of the room.

"You just need to meet-"

"Jax?" A blonde version of Lucifer stepped out. He had sand colored ears and tail that had a patch of brown at the tip of his tail.

"Harvey! Meet Opal." Jax said smiling.

Harvey looked at me with an eyebrow raised, "Why's a pretty girl like her in a freak show like this?" He asked.

"S-she's not like others, she's kind and nice." Jax said and looked at me smiling.

"OoO sounds like you have a crush on new girl." Harvey smirked.

"Whoo! Go Jax!" Rachel hollered from the couch.

"N-no it's not like that!" Even under all of his fur you could tell he was blushing.

"Jax and Opal sitting in a tree K-I-S-S-I-N-G!" Harvey sang smirking.

"Shut up Harvey!" Jax growled at him.

"So Opal," Rachel pulled me away from the boys and into the open kitchen, "How do you know Jax?" She asked.

"He saved me from the Purple Dragons." I said and smiled softly at her.

She grimanced and glared at me, "I don't care if the others are fond about you," She sneered and grabbed the collar of my shirt and pulled me towards her, "If you step out of line once, I'll kill ya." She growled and let go of me. "Ka-peesh?" She said smugly.

"Ok." I looked at the floor and nodded.

"Good girl," She patted my head like I was a dog, "Now run along." She dismissed me. I walked out of the room and walked over to Jax. I tugged on his shirt sleeve which drawed him back to look at me.

"Yeah Opal?" He asked softly.

"Came you take me home?" I asked and looked up at him.

"Sure! O-of course." He said and held my hand, "Wh-when ever you want to leave I'll take you home no matter what."

We left and Jax took me home. I climbed back into my house through the window, Jax sat on the grate of the escape route.

"I'll see you tomarrow ok?" He smiled.

"Ok, I'll see you tomarrow." I smiled. He nodded and disappeared off of the balcony. I shut the window and went to bed.
