Ranger Halt opened the door to the apartment he shared with his wife Pauline. He sighed tiredly. It had been a long and hard day.
Crowley had been annoying, in the bunch of letters he had send his friend.
Gilan had been annoying. His former apprentice had been in Redmont that day to visit Jenny, and had decided to make sure Halt would know.
Will had been annoying, as he was every single day. Halt almost regretted training both Gilan and Will. It would have been more relaxing if he hadn't.
Even Horace had been annoying, while he had been at the Battleschool for most of the day, training Sir Roderick's pupils.
And every other person seemed to have had the intention on irritating him the whole day. Farmers calling him to shoot an animal. People complaining things had been stolen, while they later discovered they had just left it somewhere.
But somewhere, far away, a smile was hidden. Because today had been a day like others. And he loved them.
