Chapter 7

I startled awake to some song going off on my phone.

But if you close your eyes,

Does it almost feel like nothing change at all,

And if you close your eyes,

Does it almost feel like you’ve been here before,

Now how am I gonna be an optimist about this,

Now Ho-

I picked up my phone turning off the alarm. I sighed. I looked at the time. Half an hour until four o’clock so I decided to get myself sorted. I remembered what my parents had said. Not to wear baggy clothing and actually be myself. I climbed off of the bed and walked into the bathroom. The bathroom was so beautiful with its bath tub and shower and huge mirror. I quickly brushed my teeth and washed my face to wipe off my old make-up. I walked back into the room and sat at the dressing table. I brushed my hair and pulled it back into a neat bun. Some small strands of hair hung down at the sides to shape my face slightly. I applied my usual amount of make up before changing into some skinny jeans with red converse and a tight fitting white vest top. I placed on a couple of wrist bands onto my left wrist. I sprayed some perfume onto me embracing the smell that floated through the room. It was a fragrance of my scent. Rose and vanilla. I looked at my appearance which I was finally impressed with.

I smiled at my reflection. It had been over four years since I could wear my own style. No baggy clothing anymore. I was finally free to be myself and look like myself. No one knew the figure I had on me. I was fairly thin but with curves in all the right places. I had a fairly toned stomach from all of my training. I guess some people were going to get a shock.

I noticed one key difference though. My eyes. They were no longer that dull grey which had long since lost its shine and life. My eyes now glowed its beautiful light blue colour which I thought I had lost forever. I was so glad I had found it again. I was so glad the life had come back into my eyes. I just now hoped that it would stay.

It was now five minutes to four. I took a deep breath and went to the door. I pulled it open and stepped out. Here it goes.

I walked down the corridor to the top of the stairs. I was at the top and already all the girls had arrived. The girls from every group were now here. 100 girls in total. They were all facing away from me looking at three Marshals followed by nine spread out evenly behind them representing each of the groups we could get separated into. They each held a piece of paper with the numbers one to nine written on them in fancy writing.

I went down the steps quietly so that nobody would notice me. Luckily it was successful and my footsteps remained with minimal sound. I stopped at the back of the crowd. I stood well behind so that no one would see me yet. I wanted to hold if off just a little longer.

“Hello, ladies. Now we will sort you into your groups. You will take it in turns to go up to a Marshal. They will then determine your group and say a number. You will then go to that number which will be your group. Group 1 is the highest power and 9 being the lowest. The quicker we get this done the more time you ladies have to get ready for the main meal tonight. Make your way into three lines behind one of the three Marshals now please,” The Main Marshal who talked to us when we arrived spoke.

There was a little bit of movement as we all began to sort ourselves out into three separate lines. In the end they were all fairly equal in length. I decided to go at the back of the first line on the left. No one had noticed or recognised me yet. I kept my head down for now until everything became revealed. I guess everyone would be looking for the baggy clothes that I would have normally worn.
