Chapter 10 Mating Ball

All the girls were instructed to wait in the left hand side waiting room. The boys would be in an identical room on the right hand side of the castle. Each room lead into the main chamber which lead them down a red carpet on either side of the room. The girls will be the first one to enter. It was a huge room where all the girls would wait until their group was called to where they would go and eventually meet their mate. The lower powers went first until the final most powerful group went which was the group I was in. As there were two hundred girls it would be an awfully long time before my turn.

Today was the day. Today was the day I would meet someone who will give me unconditional love and will love me for who I am. That is all I have ever wanted.

I was currently in a corner of the room towards the back. The atmosphere in the room was electric as girls chatted happily among one another. Each of them debated who their mate could possibly be. The happiness and hope filled the air. Each girl wore beautiful gowns and their hair was perfectly made up along with their make-up. Although some were far from my taste. Some girls aka the plastics wore very little material which really didn’t leave much to the imagination. There make-up was heavily caked on making them look orange. I sighed. Why look like that? A little is fine but it is better to be yourself. Others wore big puffy dresses that I wondered if they would even fit through the door. Everyone had a very different style. Some wore outlandish colours while others stuck to neutral colours.

I couldn’t help but notice the few glares I got from the girls in my pack. Jade looked at me the worst. What a surprise, not. I gave her a sweet smile in reply. She huffed out before glaring at me and then returning to her minions. She daren’t talk to me after last night. I was better than her, not only in my power but my kindness. Unlike her I see everyone as equal including her to me.

I held the stick to my mask in my hand. I looked at the mask feeling the patterns underneath my hand. The beautiful silvery mask matched my dress perfectly. It sparkled delicately with intricate patterns decorating the mask circling from the eyes. The silver reminded me of the colour of my wolf. I smiled at the thought.

                You look beautiful tonight, Elouise

                Thanks Alexandria.

We will find out beautiful mates today.

                Eternity in love.

                Exactly.

Alexandria went quite then contempt with herself in the knowledge of finding our mate. I smiled again at the thought. It is just so beautiful. Unconditional love. What an honour. I felt the soft flowing material of my dress beneath my finger-tips. My mother and I had truly picked a beautiful dress. I looked down at where the delicate gems cascaded away into the beautiful flowing material.

“There you are. I have been looking everywhere for you,” Princess Aliana scolded.
