●Troye's POV●
"So let me get this straight," Tyler started. We sat back on the three branch, swinging our feet back and forth as I explained everything that I could, probably freaking the shit out of him in the process. "You're a fucking demon-"
"Woah! Are you allowed to cuss?!" I interrupted him, earning a very unamused expression from him.
"So you're a demon..." he continued "And you've pretty much been watching me for like ninety percent of my life?!"
"Way to make me sound creepy" I rolled my eyes
"And you... how did you run into my mum?" He asked
"She was delivering something to Lucifer and-"
"My mom was delivering something for the devil?!" He yelled, making me jump slightly "Why?! You said she was an angel in heaven where you lyi-"
"Tylah!" I interrupted loudly "She is an angel. She probably just needed to drop some paperwork off or something. Believe it or not heaven and hell have to keep in contact with eachother" I explained, watching a wave of relief take over his features "Anyway, I was down there-"
"Why?" He cut me off.
I gave him a warning look. "Ty, stop interrupting. It doesn't matter why I was there. I just happened to see her an she looked very familiar and I asked 'Hey, don't you have a son named Tyler or something?' and she started crying and thanking me for looking after you that one time. She also asked me to make sure you got the gift she left you for your sixteenth birthday"
"Oh..." he said simply, thinking before his next words "And I can't see you during the day because...?"
I sighed, having to explain my whole life story a second time to this little munchkin "Demons are creatures of the darkness, and since they're in hell for a reason their punishment is only coming out at night"
He snorted, making me look at him like he was crazy. He giggled until he was practically cackling off the tree as laughing tears pooled up in his eyes until he breathed out for air. " 'Coming out' "
I gave him the most unimpressed face I think I've ever given anyone as he started his giggling fits again. "You are so annoying! Let me finish!"
"Okay! I'm sorry. Continue" he smiled as I rolled my eyes, a bitter expression still holding on to my face.
"...We hang out in the dark, unlike angels who have the option to stay in heaven or be reborn. There's a specific reason why angels are not allowed to roam this dimension without being reborn, but we'll discuss that when you're older. It's very complicated."
"When I'm older?" He asked quietly. I nodded, raising an eyebrow in confusion at his sudden quietness "So, you mean, you still want to be my friend when I'm older?"
"Yeah. I like you, you aren't so bad after all." I smiled, earning a slight blush and a shy smile from him. "And your mum kinda made me promise to look after you. Even if I'm not physically there"
"Alright." He giggled "But, going back to what we were talking about, it's daytime right now, so why can I see and touch you?"
"Because the sun isn't out. It's relatively dark, like the night" I explained smiling further as realization hit him.
"Gotcha... couple more questions?" He asked. I nodded as he looked back at the house.
"Okay, so I'm guessing it always has to be dark in the house right?"
"Yeah" I nodded again
"But why did you choose this specific house?"
"Because it wasn't taken" I shrugged "I'm sure you've seen those stupid scary movies where they're like 'there's an evil spirit in this house' or whatever and then the ghosts come out at night looking all bloody and shit."
"Yeah I've seen them" he chuckled
"Yeah, well, some demons don't mind living with people. That's why there's ghost hunting documentaries on T.V. But, I like living alone... and by alone I mean with the shit ton of people in there." I chuckled as I pointed to the house, specifically to the window where Zoe stood watching us. Tyler waved 'hello' and, as if she couldn't couldn't take it any longer, she ran out here with her arms stretched out, aiming to welcome Tyler with a big hug. Tyler giggled as he jumped off the branch and met her halfway.
"Look how much you've grown!" She squealed "Oh lord! It seems like only yesterday you were playing tag with your mum out here!" She pulled out from the hug and stared at Tyler, smiling impossibly bigger "Awwwee! You're so handsome!"
"Thank you, Zoe" he giggled, jumping when Zoe gasped and pulled him into another bone-breaking hug.
"You remember my name!!!" She practically screamed. I chuckled as I saw Tyler's squished face and wide eyes, a smile still on his lips though, which gave me the sign that he was still breathing despite Zoe's death hug.
"Okay Zoe! I think Tyler needs to breathe!" I said, tapping on her shoulder.
"Oh! Sorry!" She smiled, pushing away from Tyler once again. He over dramatically gasped for air wiped the non-existent sweat from his forehead, making both Zoe and I laugh. I suddenly heard a little tune come from the tree. Tyler turned around and jogged over to the item that was lighting up on top of his notebook. I quickly realized it was something called a cell phone (one of which I had recently gotten myself) as he typed something in it. "Hey Tyler, do you want to maybe join us for dinner?" Zoe asked making me give her an 'are-you-out-of-your-mind?' look.
"Sorry, but that's my dad just texted me. I have to get home, I'm probably in big trouble." He sighed shakily, picking up his stuff and walking back toward us.
"You snuck out again?" I asked, crossing my arms at him
"Yeah... um, I thought he worked late today. Guess not." He frowned, looking holding my disappointed gaze.
"Tyler! That's very dangerous! Bad!" Zoe spoke up, accidentally speaking to him as if he were a dog.
I gave her another look of disapproval, speaking as I turned back back to Tyler "Do you want me to walk you?"
"No!" He yelled, making me blink and making Zoe jump "Sorry. I mean no. God no. If my dad finds out I snuck out and was with a boy who, may I add, is a demon and looks much older than me, I'm done for."
I sighed "Okay. Get home, kiddo. Be careful."
"Yeah, don't worry about me." He shook his head. "I'll leave now, bye." He cautiously made his way up to me me and embraced me in a gentle hug. How can this kid not be scared of me?! I thought as I carefully wrapped my arms around him. I just told him I'm a demon who lives in an abandoned mansion and who spoke to his dead mother. Who does that?!
"Okay... you can can go now" I chuckled awkwardly making him abruptly let me go.
"Oh. Sorry. Bye guys." He waved, quickly walking to the pebbled driveway and out the gate, making sure to close it behind him.
I sighed as Zoe and I kept looking at the gate where he'd just left a moment ago. "This kid is gonna be some trouble isn't he?" I finally spoke up. Zoe chuckled and leaned on me before replying,
"Oh yeah.... but he's worth it, no?"
--
Why hello! Look who left you waiting for three whole days! Oh me oh my! I'm sorry!
This was a very boring filler chapter that I actually didn't want to write at all. But don't worry, next chapter is gonna make you forget this ^^ torture cuz it's gonna go 0-100 real quick, my friends.
Also up there I've added a picture of what the house kind of looks like with a gate right about where the camera is placed (The POV you're seeing the picture from) y'know what I mean? Its just as a reference (you can imagine it any way you want tho)
Okay, yeah. That's it. Tootles!
