20th Poem: Clouds

I'm sure I'm not the only one,

who thinks of clouds as

cotton candy in the sky

Or, rather,

the sky's cotton candy.

They look like floss,

the candy kind,

the kind as soft as, well

clouds.

But then,

one day in science class

we learn that clouds are

made up of water.

So if we touched one or

tried to sit on one,

we'd fall through.

But what of that?

You'd still want to

touch it anyway-

so you dream of having wings.

Maybe drinking RedBull

could give you your wings

or maybe Angel from XMEN

could give you a ride up there.

I love how clouds

shape themselves differently everyday

growing, splitting, becoming new,

floating, galloping, twisting too.

They have no care in the world,

moving to different shapes,

and humoring us all.

You could see a baby

and someone else could see a turtle.

I could see a pig

and you could see a girl.

That's just the thing-

clouds always leave it up

for the mind to decide.

~Authors Note~

I thought of this poem on my way to swim practice yesterday. It was raining really hard and my dad was driving me to the pool. The sky had gotten dark and there was thunder, but you know crazy old me was jamming to some music on 107.3 and 99.5, smiling up at the clouds. Seriously, I was singing and dancing around, a storm freaking raging outside of the car, turning the music up louder- it was crazy! So I get to the pool, and everyone's cars are pulling out and people were leaving. (Mind you, I'm like 15 minutes late to practice, so it was like 7:15 or something). So my dad pulled out and we left. We left as soon as we got there. Not five minutes after we left, the rain cleared up and the sun started to peek out from behind the clouds and a rainbow formed. OMG AND THERE WAS A DOUBLE RAINBOW- WHAT DOES IT EVEN MEAN?!?!?!?!? Anywho, that's what inspired me to write this poem.

P.s The picture up top is one I found online, it is not mine!

P.p.s I would show you this cool picture of these clouds I saw at my house, (the sun shone behind them and they kind of looked 3-D!!), but I can't because I had to use my camera (#no phone life) and my laptop doesn't have a port to put in my camera's memory card.
