1 Year Later

Samantha Anderson

Paris was the absolute best. The lights. The style. The romance.

It was my favorite place to vacation with my favorite person.

"God, I love this city," I said to Harry Styles, the man I could call the love of my life, cuddling into his side as we walked down the streets. "Can we please move here?"

"See you say that now, but then when you realize you don't know a lick of French I think you'll be saying differently," Harry laughed, kissing my temple and squeezing my side.

"Aw, shut up and let me dream," I said, rolling my eyes. We walked together, admiring the sights as it slightly rains. "So, what's our plan right now?"

"I have a surprise for you," he said, grinning. He steered me towards the Eiffel Tower. I noticed it was closed, yet he still pulled me along, making me confused at this moment.

"Harry, what the hell are we doing, it's closed," I said to him, turning to him and raising my eyebrows. Harry had decided to treat me to a trip to Paris for our one year anniversary. It was our favorite place in the world and I was overjoyed to be with him here.

"Money can buy a lot of things," Harry chuckled, pulling me along and pushing me inside to enter the Eiffel Tower. "I thought we could have dinner here tonight, just the two of us."

"Harry what the hell, this is way too much," I said, but knowing all too well that this was the most perfect night and moment for us. I grinned at him and kissing his cheek as we were led by a man in a suit towards the top of the tower.

I felt highly underdressed for such an occasion and monument, but that was okay, because I was with my favorite person in the entire world.

"Hello, Mr. Styles and Ms. Anderson, we are so glad we could have you two this evening. Dinner will be a classic French cuisine, we hope you both will enjoy," he told us as we entered into an elevator that would lead us to the top of the tower. I noticed the rain had lightened up and I couldn't help but feel like Harry could somehow control it.

"Thank you so much," I smiled, clinging closely to Harry. In the back of my mind I couldn't help but think about the possible diamond ring that was in my future. Today was the perfect possibility, with a beautiful setting and dinner, it all felt like it was going to happen. Our engagement was something I couldn't help but dream about. We had discussed marriage, even going to look at rings, but since then no sign had been given about the topic.

However, as the night continued, Harry never reached for his jacket, he never did anything that would show this. Part of me was annoyed at myself for getting my hopes up and the other part of me was annoyed with Harry for not popping the question.

Soon enough, the dinner was over and Harry and I were heading back towards my hotel.

Hand in hand we walked, me quietly and Harry discussing something or another. Probably talking about his mother and family or work.

"Hey, can we stop for a croissant real quick?" Harry asked me pulling me towards a bakery.

"Yeah, sure honey," I said, letting him lead me inside. The smell of fresh bread filled my nose as Harry ordered us croissants in perfect French. He handed over the money and soon we were off again, munching on our croissants.

He led me to a park bench and sat down next to me still holding my hand.

As we sat and talked about life, he accidentally dropped his croissant.
