Settings are very important. They, aside from the characters, must be described in full detail, from the wallpaper's color to the type of wood used for the bed frame to where the elegant spoons were crafted and in which drawer are they placed. Even the specie of spider weaving its web in the corner of your room matters. Anyway, here are the best settings you can use for your story.
FORESTS
Usually for vampire and werewolf stories. Make sure your forest is huge and has many types of trees, even if they can't really coexist within the same biome. That way, you can make sure that each character can be perched on a different tree specie when the time comes.
BEACHES
Need I elaborate?
HIGH SCHOOL
Make sure your high school has at least one of the following syllables in its name:
-Spring
-Brick
-Hale
-Dale
-Hart
-Red
- -ton
-Wood
-Field
STARBUCKS
Never, ever, never write a book that doesn't have Starbucks in it. Bonus points if your characters meet there.
CHARACTER'S HOUSE
Only two options for this one: sprawling mansion or quaint suburban house. Make sure the main character's room is filled with posters and has at least one mirror or lamp. If it's a guy's house and he's the love interest, he MUST have one of these (or all):
-A band practice area in his garage
-A collection of guitars or photos
-His most prized possession which he shows the main character
-His car which he loves more than Han Solo loves the Millennium Falcon
