~SIX~
It takes us less than thirty minutes to get to the clinic. Midnight parks the car and he and Ryan help me out of the car and into the clinic.
The women at the reference desk looks up at us and quickly realizes who we are. I like how everyone in town knows us. Want to know how? Because of our parents!
"Violeta! Midnight! Ryan!" She exclaims. "How are you guys!?"
"Pretty good, what about you?" Ryan asks.
"Same, what brings you here today?"
"Vi, did something to her ankle," Midnight gets to the point. Mrs. K stands up from behind her desk and looks down.
"It's hard to see, 'cause it covered but it's red and swollen." I say. She nodds, "What'd you do? Jump?"
"Pretty much, from a tree which was at least 30 feet from the ground." I add. She snickered and said, motioning to a door, "Through that door and Dr. Reynold's should be their."
I like how you come in and they assign you straight to the family doctor. Yes, Dr. Reynold's is Ryan's, Midnight's and my doctor and our family's. Cool, huh?
Midnight and Ryan help me and open the door. Dr. Reynold looks up from some papers on his desk and says, "Ah, Vi, Ryan and Midnight! Nice to see you," He says getting up from his chair and coming to shake our hands. "What brings you guys here? Not like I see you every other day."
"Vi's ankle is banged up," Ryan mentions. I roll my eyes. "And we were wondering if you could check it."
"I would be honored to see what's up!" He says and we laugh. "Go ahead and sit down Vi," he points over to a chair. "Midnight, Ryan go ahead and take a seat,"
They did, probably tired of "carrying" me.
I pull up the leg of my jean. Dr. Reynolds crouched down and gasps, once he see's my ankle.
"What---"
I cut him off, "Off a thirty foot tree." He shakes his head, knowing what I meant.
"Okay, let's see IF IT'S actually broken, then we'll SEE." I nod. "Okay," He grabs my leg and gives my foot/ankle a twist. But just a bit.
I yelp in pain and shut my eyes tight. "NO! IT HURTS TO MUCH!" I yell. He let's go and I see Midnight get up and come to my side.
"Sorry Vi," Dr. Reynolds says. I nod. "Okay one more just to be safe maybe two more."
I nod, he grabs my leg, again and pushes on it. I yelp and grab Midnight, squeezing his arm and digging my nails through his sweater and into his skin.
"Doc," Midnight speaks up, "I don't think that's helping. It's only making it worse."
"Sorry, I didn't mean too hurt you even more Vi," he says. I release my grip on Midnight and he sighs.
"It's broken, isn't it?" I ask. He nods. "Now one more thing."
Dr. Reynolds did this thing, lightly touching my ankle. See, the thing about being a doctor or nurse here is that--- I'll make it short for you--- they touch where you got hurt and they can literally see everything, like, Reynolds. He touches my ankle and gets a clear image of my ankle and---
"Yup, it's broken," He says and goes to his computer and types something down. I sigh and Midnight puts his hand on my back.
"Okay, so I'll give you medicine for the pain and swelling. We'll get a cast on that foot and get you some crutches," He explains. I groan, "No not all that!" I cry.
