Skyrim was a wonderful place, as many told you. Gorgeous cerulean waters, dark pine trees that gave that feeling of adventure, cobalt skies that comforted anyone on a long journey. So many colors made this place feel like home.

The only thing was that you couldn't see any of them.

You had been colorblind since birth, not knowing the reason for it. Your grandmother used to tell you it would play a role in the future, but you doubted that. Oh, the things you would give to see these colors. People had tried to describe what these "colors" look like, by connecting them to emotions. For instance, blue, was often linked to sadness, while yellow might be to represent happiness.

But little did you know, there was another man who had gone through the same as you. His name was Brynjolf. He was a thief simply, and a good one too. Brynjolf kept his secret concealed that he could never experience these wonderful things, promising never to tell anyone. He was ashamed of it.

Currently, you were headed towards the Honorhall Orphanage, with a large stack of books that you volunteered to donate. Most of them were just old lore and teaching books. The only thing on your mind was getting them safely to the children.

Meanwhile Brynjolf stood in the Riften commons, one hand placed on his chin as he sighed and looked at all the people passing by. Vex silently approached him from behind, tapping him on the shoulder. Brynjolf raised his eyebrows in interest and looked towards her.

She smiled halfway, noticing Brynjolf's mood. "Is everything alright?" Vex looked at him dead on in the eyes, so Brynjolf became uncomfortable and avoided her gaze.

"Aye." Is all Brynjolf said in response, sighing. His focus fixed to you. He had seen you around town, but never knew your name. Truth was, he fancied you. Just the way you smiled could easily light up a room, and your laugh- oh he swore your laugh was a gift from the gods. Sometimes, Brynjolf would stick around whenever you were near just to see you smile. It almost made him forget about his own problems and worries.

Brynjolf was afraid. He was afraid that he would let you down because of his status that he wouldn't be able to fully admire your beauty. So, he kept this crush a secret.

Today was different, though.

Two children from the orphanage ran up behind into and smiling. Your lips curved into a small smile as you saw their excitement as their eyes widened with seeing the books.

"No way! Miss Y/N, are those for us?" One asked, stopping and nearly jumping with joy. You nod, readjusting your grip on the books. They sure were heavy. The two of them squealed and grinned widely, jumping up and down anxiously.

The children ran off, heading to the orphanage to tell the others. This is why you gave back to the people of Riften, to see their happy faces and the thrill. It almost made you forget about your problems.

Brynjolf smiled to himself as he watched you. He exhaled, and stood straight up. Brynjolf had some business to attend to in the Ratway, so that's where he was headed. He avoided eye contact he swiftly maneuvered through the crowds, looking only down.

When suddenly-

"Oof!" Brynjolf flinched with he collided with a sharp object, sending him and the object to the ground. He looked up to see you, a beautiful person with h/c hair, and e/c eyes. The books had scattered on the ground.

Brynjolf's eyes widened and he searched around to rearrange the books. He stood up with the books in his hands.

"Sorry lass..." Brynjolf awkwardly murmured as he watched you hold your hurt arm in an annoyed way.

You laughed softly. "No worries. It happens all the time. I'm just really clumsy." You apologized. The sides of Brynjolf's lips curved into a small smirk as he chuckled.

Brynjolf hesitated for a moment, and extended his arm towards you. You wrapped your fingers around his hand. However as soon as you did both you and Brynjolf flinched, something happening.

You could see color.

None of this actually made sense. Was Brynjolf some sort of mage? Brynjolf was wide eyed and he seemed to be into a daze.

"Brynjolf..." You trailed off, amazed by the colors around you. Brynjolf snapped his attention back to you.

He seemed to recognize your appalled expression. "Aye did you see the same thing?" Brynjolf barely managed to get out in a murmur.

You nodded. You wiggled your fingers, observing your hand.

"Lass," Brynjolf begins, with a sly smirk,"I don't believe in fate, but I believe Lady Amara is trying to tell us something."
