Shit, you thought, your feet slapping the ground as sprinted down the cobbled streets of King's Landing. There was a knight hot on your tail as you navigated through the maze of alley's that made up Flea Bottom. Your legs were ached as you reached a tall stone wall, jumping and scrabbling at it until you reached the top, vaulting over it and running again when your feet hit the floor. You were soon slowing down, checking around you to find you were no longer being followed. Reaching into your bag, you pulled out a small loaf of bread tearing a lump off and stuffing it into your mouth. You hadn't eaten in a while, maybe a few days, and even the simplest of foods had started to taste amazing. You heard footsteps coming towards you and hastily stored the bread safely in your bag once more, trying to slip into the shadows cast by the buildings behind you.

"You aren't allowed back here," a voice called out, soft against the echoing sounds of the streets. "It isn't safe, lots of thieves hang around here," he added causing you to let out a snort of laughter, if only he knew how right he was. "Come on, no ones going to give you any trouble, you can come out," he muttered, causing you to push off of the wall, taking a tentative step towards him.

He was a handsome man, no more than a year older than yourself and grubby from head to toe. "I'm sorry," you told him as he watched you move out of the shadows, "didn't know this was private property," you uttered, forcing a smile onto your lips.

"If you didn't know you couldn't be here, who were you hiding from?" he asked you with a smirk.

"You caught me," you cried, holding your hands up in mock surrender. "I've just always been a lover of trespassing in people's cold, dark gardens," you added, causing him to let out a chuckle. "I had no where to go," you finally uttered, and his laughter quickly died in his throat.

He walked towards the wooden door, passing over the threshold before looking back at you. "You can either come and warm yourself by the fire or you can sit in the garden all night," he told you, "it's your choice," he added, the corners of his lips slowly turning up as you quickly moved to follow him inside.

"Who were you hiding from?" he asked after the two of you had sat in silence on the floor in front of the fireplace for a while. You shrugged as you felt his eyes on you. "Come on, you can tell me," he laughed nudging you softly with his elbow. Gendry seemed nice but you were still unsure about telling him the truth. He could sell you out, though you doubted he would, and you would end up rotting in a jail somewhere. "So, it must have been a guard if you are this reluctant to tell me," he muttered, causing you to turn your head to him quickly.

"It wasn't my fault," you told him and he quirked an eyebrow, motioning for you to explain. "These two boys took all my money a couple of days ago, left me with nothing. And so I took some bread from a stall in town," you finished and his smirk was gone.

"Why didn't you just go home?" he asked, curiosity taking control of him.

"I don't have one," you told him looking down at your hands.

"Oh, I'm sorry-"

"Don't be," you grumbled, "I'm better off on the streets than I ever was with my father," you paused for a moment, biting down on your lip as you glanced over at him. "Besides, If I had a home, I wouldn't have ended up in your garden looking for a place to hide, and we would have never met."

"You can stay here," he told you causing your eyes to fly open wide. "I wouldn't normally do this but I live here alone, have done for years. You can have one of the beds upstairs and get a job at the tavern on the corner. Mrs Fowler runs it and she's always been real nice," he continued with much more enthusiasm, causing you to laugh.

"You don't know me," you told him laughing at the absurdity of the situation, "how do you know you can trust me?" you asked as he smiled at you.

"You need help and you seem nice enough. Besides, it gets real lonely living alone," he told you.

"Well, thank you," you told him, causing his smile to grow.
