It was after the war, Voldemort was gone, and the wizarding world was at ease for the first time in a while. The "Golden Trio," as some named them, returned to Hogwarts for their final year, along with many of their other classmates, to finish their education and take their N.E.W.T.'s.

All was well in that last year, for Hermione Granger and Harry Potter were Head Boy and Girl, and Ron Weasley was named Quidditch Captian, in place of Harry because of his Head Boy duties.

Many of their other friends, such as Luna Lovegood, Neville Longbottom, and Ginny Weasley, and even a few such as Draco Malfoy and his notorious "friends" were there as well, all content of finishing their many years at Hogwarts as best as possible.

The trios' last year at Hogwarts went by quickly, and they soon found themselves preparing for their life outside of the school they have called their home for the last eight or so years. Harry and Ron were able to enroll themselves in Auror training, which will take them another two years worth of hard training to be labeled with the title they have dreamed about.

Hermione knew that she wanted to work at the Ministry, and she set her sights on a job right out of graduation. Conveniently, the Auror training was held at the ministry, so Hermione and Ron's relationship was able to continue as it has since the war ended.

Neville and Luna were to travel the world, for they were both intent of someday teaching at Hogwarts and needed the worldly experience to help their qualifications.

The other children of death eaters, to the exception of Draco, hadn't anything planned at all, for their parents money would provide for their otherwise lavish lifestyles. Instead, Draco chose the career path in which Hermione was heading, which was highly odd.

Ginny was able to leave as well, and was placed as Chaser for the English United team for Quidditch. She was also in close proximity to Harry,  her boyfriend for the last few months, and his training, so they had an apartment together.

All was well for many people. Their fears about Voldemort have been put aside, and many had to rebuild their lives after losses of loved ones.

Hermione snapped out of her daze as she absently daydreamed about the previous year and a half of her life. It seemed that out of nowhere she was actually an adult to whom was expected to work and provide for her own.

Blimey, she thought to herself, focus.

"Miss Granger," she heard a voice ask from the door to her private office, to which she earned after her hard work in only two months of working at the Ministry. She looked up to see Charollett, one of her closer coworkers.

"Oh! Hello Charollett, what can I do for you today?" Hermione started in a static tone, similar to the ones that people give her.

Of course no one was casual with her at work. She was a "legend" to many people, as she had heard them say in multiple occasions, no matter how much she tries to get people to call her Hermione.

"Miss Granger," she stated again, "we have news about the wizard and witch couple that had been missing for the last month. Here is the file, and the Minister wants you to start working with the new leads immediately. The Minister thinks that you can put it together faster that all of us, so...." She finished.

Hermione was used to people finding her superior to others, even though she wasn't. How else should she have gotten these special assignments and the endless praise from the Minister of Magic himself?

"Thank you Charollett, I'll see what I can do with it. See you around?" She just wanted friends, in all honestly. People, she wished, who would join her at lunch breaks and whatnot. Coworkers that would just talk to her rather than ignore her while she usually sits by herself.

"Sure" Charollett squeaked and left the room as quickly as possible.

Hermione rubbed her face and launched herself into the missing persons file for hours straight, putting together leads until she saw that it was over two hours since her shift had ended. She straightened up and left, and, as usual, she was the last to leave the Ministry that night.
