I wanted to reply. I really did!!!
To be honest, I wanted to talk to him for some more time.
I asked him to hang up but deep down I wished to tell him – “Let’s talk for some more time Dr. It is just 1 AM…..”
But obviously I did not say that… More than that, I could not say that.
I did not like text messages. I preferred phone calls to texts; so I thought of calling him up that evening rather than texting him.
6th May 2008
I reached college early…
I was the first one to reach the department in which I was posted at that time.
I pulled a chair near the table, put on my lab coat and waited for my colleagues and staff members.
It was scorching summer and I made my way to the switch board to switch on the fan.
To my sheer shock, I saw that all the switches were on.
The peon informed me that there was a power cut every Tuesday in May.
[GOD KNOWS WHYYYYY]
I was so irritated. The hot weather disgusted me more than anything else.
The worst part was we had to send all the patients back.
Just one good thing happened because of the power cut.
My colleagues and I got time to talk and know each other.
Let me introduce you to my batch…
We were five girls…
Karishma
Richa
Niharika
Disha
&
Me
We chit-chatted for some time but the fan-less suffocating ambience of the room could not keep us engaged for too long.
We were getting bored ‘cause we had nothing to do.
We could not even study.
I suggested them to go to the canteen.
Disha was a bit friendly and she immediately agreed.
Karishma, Richa and Niharika did not want to accompany us. They were too scared to ask for permission from the staff members.
So obviously it was just me and Disha.
The staff members were also getting bored. They immediately granted us the permission to visit the canteen.
My intention to visit the canteen was obviously something else.
Sorry SOMEONE else…!! MONISH!!!!
I somehow knew he would be in the canteen. Call it my gut feeling or anything else, I JUST KNEW I would see him there…
My sixth sense was ALWAYS right…
I entered the canteen and amidst all those pre-occupied tables, I saw Monish with 4 of his friends on one of the tables.
I really cannot express the happiness I felt when I saw him there.
His smile made my eyes too glint of joy…!!
