Chapter 24

"He still hasn't wakeded up?"

"He will baby"

"It’s been forevers"

"No its hasn't, he will be fine"

I felt my eyes flicker open, feeling the banging in my head "Chase? Chase? Can you hear me?" Lorelai slapped my cheek multiple times "open your eyes!" She demanded as she carried on slapping

"Stop slapping me" my voice sounded husky

"Oh sorry" the slapping stopped and I opened my eyes to find my gorgeous girl sitting in Lorelai's lap

"Clara" I whispered and sat up holding my arms out for her ignoring the pain pounding through my brain

"Daddy you-" I cut her off  knowing what she was going to say

"Shh let's just cuddle princess"

She was going to tell me I killed a man, I couldn't handle that. I couldn't even think about it. I didn't want to think about it. I looked around the room, I had been moved away from the table but I saw it; one corner up higher than the rest. I let my eyes drop to the body underneath. The table leg just sitting in the head as blood had dried around it. I felt myself heave

"Daddy?"

"I'm fine" I choked out still staring at Terry

"Chase, don't look" Lorelai gripped my arm

"I- I - I did that" I stutter out looking at Lorelai

"I would have done the same"

"I'm a murderer" I felt the black spots appearing as I started to breath heavily.

"Chase! Calm down!" Lorelai grabbed my face making be look straight in her eyes "you are not a murderer. You did the right thing. You were protecting us" she said slowly to me

"His dead"

"Chase! Snap out of it! We need to get out of here." Lorelai let go of my face

"Daddy" Clara wrapped her arms around my neck "I still love you. You’re the bravest Daddy evers"

I felt tears prickle in my eyes "I love you so much princess" I nuzzled my face into her hair savoring the moment.

I heard Lorelai get up but I closed my eyes hugging Clara tighter to me, it felt so good knowing this time nothing was going to take me away from her. I could take her home today, I could watch her grow up, have her first day off big school. Then she would go to high school and start to blossom into a young women, get a boyfriend who I would defiantly hate. She would whine about having a spot or just because I would un cool for wanting to hug her when I dropped her to school. She would go off to college and university, fall in love with someone who would take great care of her and treat her as the princess she is then they would marry and have my grandchildren. I smiled at my thoughts of Clara living a beautiful happy life. I will always be so proud of her.
