Al aged 14, Ed and Van aged 15.
Van POV:
"Do you really think we're gonna find the Philosopher's Stone in a rundown town like this?" Al asked Ed and I.

'We've got no other leads, anyway there's no need to scratch this place off the list. They could be trying to make a Philosopher's Stone because of their lack of gold at the moment.' I sign at Al who looks down like he's done something wrong.

'Hey, don't sweat it.' I smile and even though he can't make facial expressions, I know he's smiling back.

We begin to walk into the town and then we hear a holler, "Elisa!"
and decide to check it out. As I get closer I see a little girl almost being crushed and other people trying to get her out. My facial expression turns to absolute horror as I begin to run towards them.

"Van! Wait!" I hear Ed but I don't stop.

I won't let that little girl be crushed. No way in Hell.

I clap my hands as I'm just about there and gesture for everyone to get out of the way.

Ed yells at the people surrounding Elisa. "Back away everybody! And you don't move or you might get hurt while your big sister gets that off of you. Stay still, okay?" he says calmly to her and smiles while he's just about caught up to me. Elisa nods and everybody backs away.

"Don't hurt my daughter!" the dad yells.

'Calm down, grandpa. Don't bust a lung.' I sign to him but he doesn't get it so Al translates for me.

I turn the giant metal box that's almost crushing Elisa into a straight up, solid box that's just taller than Al.

"Thank you so much." the dad says as he lungs in to hug me.

'Get him off of me...' I sign to Ed while my bangs cover my eyes, making a shadow and my aura grows dark.

"Oh boy. You'd better get away from her before she snaps."

The man quickly gets away and pulls his daughter into a hug then invites us to his house.

They make us food and such while we sit at the table.

"We sure were lucky to have real alchemists like you come when you did. I can't thank you enough." the dad says to us while I yawn.

"And don't forget their metal father!" Elisa squeaks. Al basically falls off of his chair at the statement while Ed and I laugh.

"No, you've got it all wrong." Ed clears it up. "Al's not our father, he's actually our younger brother."

"Younger brother? But he's so much bigger than you guys." Now it's Ed almost falling off his chair.

'I quite enjoy being short. It's a lot more fun. It means I have a short temper though so don't cross me.' I sign and once again it's Al translating. The little girl shakes her head vigorously up and down.

She looks up at her dad and says, "Daddy! I want to be just like her when I grow up!"

This makes me blush which is a rare occurrence.

"Awe, is somebody embarrassed?" Ed whispers in my ear while standing behind me. Big mistake. I reach my arm back and grab him by the ear, throwing him on the floor in front of me.
