Chapter 13

Sam

It was exactly eight at night when Xander came back from his work. As soon as he stepped foot in the house, he dismissed Scott and told him to come back tomorrow. Scott gave a bow and gave me a grin before leaving the house.

"So, do you want something to, uh, eat?" I asked Xander as he was changing out of his clothes.

"No thanks. I'm not hungry, but thank you though," Xander said as he made his way over to me and gave me kiss on the forehead, smiling down at me with a loving look in his eyes. I melted, feeling my wolf howl in joy by her mate's affection towards us.

To be honest, I'm starting to feel comfortable in Xander's pack, and trying to escape from him seems like a stupid thing to do— not that it wasn't in the beginning. Sure, I still want to protect Xander and his pack, but there's got to be another way to do that without having to give myself back to my old pack.

Xander turned off the lights before leading me to the bed. Huh, seem like we're going to bed early tonight. I laid my head on Xander's arm, feeling him playing with my hair before he spoke.

"You know, I have to introduce you to the pack soon. We need to have Luna ceremony soon so that everybody knows that you're mine and that you belong to me," Xander said while combing his fingers through my hair.

I felt as if a cold bucket of water has been thrown at me, making cold shivers run down my spine. I felt anxious at the thought of meeting the pack. 'What if they don't like me?' I thought to myself feeling my palms start to sweat and my heart race from the thought of being rejected by Xander's pack. If they don't like me then it will be like my old pack all over again, and I don't want that.

Xander must have felt my nervousness because he started rubbing comforting circles on my back, trying to get rid of the negative feeling that is bottled up inside me.

"Don't worry I'm sure they will like you. You're strong, beautiful, and will make a perfect Luna for the pack, and if they have a problem with you being the Luna, then they will have to answer to me." He said, kissing my temple, calming me and my wolf down.

"We'll have a barbecue to introduce you as the Luna, and I'm inviting my parents and the whole pack in two weeks, okay?" I nodded and tried to calm my nerves that are going haywire. Xander's touch helped calm them down and I slowly felt myself relaxing.

I leaned against his touch, loving the comforting feeling that he's giving me and my wolf. I felt him sniffing my hair and inhaling my scent. I leaned against his touch even more and soon felt myself succumbing to sleep, but before I lost consciousness I heard Xander saying "Goodnight, my little mate."

*-*-*-*

I woke up to the sun shining in my eyes. I looked around to see Xander's spot empty. I rubbed my eyes to get rid of the sleepiness. I went to the bathroom, did my business, brushed my teeth and tried to find something to wear. I wore a black t-shirt and Xander's sweatpants before going downstairs to make myself some breakfast. I saw Scott sitting down on a recliner with a bowl of cereal in his hand, watching something on the television. As soon as he heard me walking down the stairs, his head turned in my direction and greeted me.

"Good morning Sam!"

I smiled at him and greeted him back.

"Good morning."

I continued my way to the kitchen and grabbed a piece of toast and a glass of orange juice from the fridge. I sat down at the dining table and ate my toast quietly.

"So, how have you been Sam?" Scott asked me with a smile.

I smiled back at him and replied.

"I'm good, and how are you?"

"I'm good too."

As I was eating my toast, I suddenly felt lonely. I don't know why, but the thought of me not having any friends in the pack brought me a feeling of loneliness. Scott must have noticed my sudden change in mood and asked me if I was okay. I told him that I was, but he doesn't seem to believe me. But thankfully, he let it go.

I wanted to explore the territory today and meet a few pack members.

"Scott, can we go to town today? I want to explore the territory and maybe meet a few pack members," I asked.

"Sure. Let me mind-link the Alpha first to know if it's okay to let you explore," Scott replied.

I saw his eyes glaze over for a few minutes before they returned to his emerald green eyes.

"The Alpha said that it's okay, but I have to stay by your side at all times so you don't get in hot water," Scott said, grinning at me.

I nodded eagerly before going upstairs to Xander's room and grabbed my shoes before going back downstairs where Scott was waiting.

"You ready?"

I nodded at him. We left the house and he leads me to a black car. I went into the passenger's seat and put my seat belt on before Scott started the car, driving us to town.

We arrived in town after twenty minutes of driving. I got out of the car with Scott following behind. I looked around at the different shops in excitement. This is my first time seeing different shops filled with many items. Back in my old pack, I was never allowed to leave the packhouse unless the Alpha grants me permission, so seeing all these shops and these many people is sending a burst of excitement inside me.

We were walking through the town when we suddenly encountered Blake and Liam carrying paper bags. I saw Liam sniff the air and turn his head toward mine and Scott's direction. He gave us a big smile when he saw us.

"Hey, guys! What are you doing here?" Liam asked, making Blake's head snap in our direction.

"Oh, uh, we were just exploring the territory. Xander said that I can go to town as long as Scott stays with me at all times," I explained.

"Cool. I and Liam were taking a break from patrol, so we decided to grab some food in town." Blake said, looking inside of the paper bag that he was carrying.

"So, do you guys want to—" Liam stopped talking, his expression changing from a happy one to an alert one. He and Blake started looking around before pulling me behind them with Scott following their lead.

"G-guys, wh-what are you doing?" I said feeling nervous at what's happening, a bad feeling in my stomach that something big is about to happen.

"Rogues." Is all they said before looking at the woods behind the big shopping center.
