A Phone Conversation

*Serena*

I stare down at my phone, it's been weeks. I knew he wasn't coming back, so why am I sitting here waiting for my phone to ring? I don't know why I am so caught up on this. I know Klaus, well I know him well enough. I sigh, why can't I stop thinking about him? Maybe everyone is right, maybe Klaus is someone I don't want to get involved with. Maybe I should be glad he cut all ties with me. Regardless he is my friend, he's, well something to me at least. I bite my bottom lip quickly clicking on the letter K in my phone.

"So this is it then huh?" I quickly texted. I pause staring at it for a moment before hitting send.

I waited, two hours pass with no reply.

"Klaus." I sigh hitting the back button. "I'm here if you need me." I bite my lip hitting the back button again.  I stare at the green call button, debating on if I should hit it. I give a look around the house, I am here alone. I quickly get to my feet, hitting the button I head to my room.  It rings three times before he answers.

"Klaus?"

"I'm afraid not." A man states from the other side.

"Oh, I'm sorry, I-"

"I assure you Serena that you do have the correct number." He quickly states, interrupting me.

I stand there for a moment. "Is-is Klaus around?"

"I believe my brother is unavailable at the moment."

"Elijah?" I question. 

Klaus did mention his siblings, he said he had many but he's only every mentioned Elijah and Rebekah and only by name. I don't really know anything else about them besides that fact.

"Indeed." He states.

"Is Klaus okay?"

"He's alive for the time being."

"What's that suppose to mean?"

There's a pause. "I apologize Serena, but I'll have to cut this conversation short." 

"What no Elijah what's-"

The line's cut off and I'm left staring at the phone dumbfounded. I quickly call back, however I don't get an answer. I heard the door open and Jared shout that he's home. I quickly enter the living room. I can't believe what I am about to do.

Jared smiles at me. "Hey how-"

"Take me to Elijah."

He smile drops. "What?"

"I need you to take me to Elijah."

"Why?"

I sigh. "I love you and Marcus both to death Jared, but Marcus has a tendency to baby me. This is the only chance I have and I need you to help me. You have to take me to Elijah."

He stares at me for a moment before nodding. "Get your coat."
