49th Poem: Soar

76 10 13

I see a bird,

flying around inside the airport.

I see a bird,

flying high, farther and farther away,

leaving us all behind.

The bird spreads its wings,

flying up to a peak I could never reach,

soaring up to a window, in search of...

something unknown.

The bird resembles my soul,

soaring away to new heights

as my body stays here on earth.

Its feathers, my scattered thoughts.

Its wings, my stability.

Its beak, my sharp, thoughts.

Its feet, my anchor,

its eyes, my perspective.

The bird and I are one.

We soar together,

teaching each other new things,

trying to survive in this world.

Thing is,

I don't know the bird,

and

the bird doesn't know me.

Yet,

we are both connected.

By analogies

and metaphors,

simplicity, and brink of thought-

but most importantly,

by life.

A/N

I wrote this while sitting in an airport waiting for my mom to get a rental car to drive me back home.

Yes, the last line was a reference to The Lion King 'Circle of Life' song.

If anyone has any idea of wtf I am talking about, by all means comment and tell me!
