The end of the day couldn't come quick enough. I was tired, antsy and just not in the mood to 'learn' anymore. I'd also been dodging Levi since lunch and finally, I was on the brink of freedom.

I was almost to my car when I spotted Aiden waiting for me.

I approached him slowly with confused eyes.

"I don't want to seem pushy or anything, but I couldn't just go home with a maybe," he said and looked at my nervously. It was sort of cute.

"Kylie," I heard from from a short distance away, and Aiden and I both snapped our heads towards Levi.

Aiden turned back to face me, demanding eye contact and my full attention.

"You know what, yes. I'd love to go out with you," I replied with a slight smile. I had to admire his persistence.

We exchanged numbers and said our goodbyes before I unlocked my car and hopped in. Before I could fully close the door, Levi used his arm to swing my door back open.

"Well hello to you to," he said staring dead at me.

"Yea, Levi? Kinda in a rush," I lied, sitting my bag in my passenger seat before cranking up the engine.

"What was that?" He asked me looking towards Aiden who was already getting into his own silver BMW.

"Why does it matter?"

"Stop," he said firmly.

"Stop what?" I asked back.

"Stop acting standoffish towards me," he stated and I scoffed.

He looked at me with pleading eyes and I almost fell for it, "Look. About what happened at lunc---" he started.

"Levi listen don't worry about it," I tried to play it off. "You and Alivia make a really cute ... couple," I paused trying to find the right word.

"We're not a couple Kylie."

"Well from where I stood, you seemed like a couple,.."

"Ky—" he tried interjecting.

" And I'm happy for you," I finished my thought and bit the bottom of my gums. Even those words were hard to swallow for me.

He stood back but still didn't take his hand off my driver side door. "So Aiden. Y'all are a thing now?" He asked, staring dead into my soul.

"It's just a date Levi," I said simply with a shrug. "What's the harm in that?"

He scoffed with an emotionless smile before  moving out of the way and closing my door for me.

I back out of my parking spot and sped away from the school, leaving Levi in my rear view mirror.

::Levi's POV::

I shook my head as Kylie pulled off. That was not how it was supposed to happen. She was slowly putting that wall back up that I'd been breaking down so diligently since we'd met as kids. And now Aiden was about to mess everything up.

But it was my fault. I should've never let Alivia kiss me like that in front of her. That was completely unexpected. I'd messed around with Alivia ONE TIME after a party over this summer. I was drunk as hell and she was throwing herself on me all night. I was weak and gave in but I did not want to be with her and I've told her this many times. She saw an opportunity to finally get with me and I gave her just what she wanted. Now it's super awkward because she's weaseled her way into the Student Body Government so sometimes, I literally HAVE to see or work with her.
