Elijah jumped back into reality shortly after that realisation. It was a real day in her past, the sun shine, the birds tweeted and she was venturing into town with a girl she knew to be her friend, who would turn out to be nothing but a traitor. Cassie had no idea then what would happen the next day, and before he was taken back, Elijah just wanted to shout at her, not to make any deals with the witches if she didn't want a torturous life.

But in reality, as he sat on the floor, trying to overcome the devastation, he saw her again as he used to, he saw her not as a monster or a compulsive and manipulative bitch, he saw her as a person. He saw her as a scared girl, robbed of the rest of her life just for the cause of ridding the vampires from he earth, he saw her as a young girl who enjoyed writing about others, reading books and planting flowers. He saw her just like he saw everyone else.

He wanted her. It was unexplainable the connection between them, something that he could really tell his family without them thinking he's gone utterly insane. Maybe if they saw who she was before, if only Rebekah could see she was just a girl wanted to be loved, just like her, maybe she'd understand.

He looked out of the window and realised he had been passed out for the majority of the night, he had slept through the clean up party, he had slept through half of the day and he still was in his old tux. But he didn't care, he had to tell Cassie, because these days, if you wait just that second longer, something would go wrong. He never knew when the last time he'd be able to tell her was, so he needed to take the closest opportunity. It was upsetting that it took him this long to realise it.

Elijah swiftly opened the door of his room and stepped out into the hall. Though in a world of his own, somehow he realised the surrounding atmosphere to be a little darker than usual, the compound was completely empty, not a sound to be heard. But, Elijah was in a little bubble that couldn't be unpopped.

The vampire paced outside of the oak door that lead to her room. He put in order the words he was going to say 'I know it's a risk, but I'm willing to take it' but first he'd apologise for everything he's done to her, and apologise for his families actions towards her. He will finally remove the stick wedged up his arse and swallow his pride in order to be happy.

He hovered his bunched fist just before the door, his hand slightly shook before he collided his knuckles with the wood. "Cassandra" he didn't shout her name, he didn't whisper it, but his voice was hushed to avoid being spotted from one of his family members.

He grew curious when there was no answer around the fifth knock. And he knew silence from her wasn't a good sign, especially after what happened last night.

Elijah grabbed the door handle and slowly opened the door, his head peering into the darkness. Her room was a mess, the mirror on her wooden vanity table had been smashed, the window was flung open and there was obvious signs of struggle. It might have been Elijah's paranoia, but did someone take her?

Elijah took another look around, books and the contents of her desk had been scattered all over the floor, jars and glasses smashed, forcing Elijah to tiptoe around the discarded shards. There was one small rose on the floor, but he disregarded that completely. Surely if she would have left on her own accord, she wouldn't mess this room up as it had been. Surely she would have at least taken one thing, but everything was accounted for.

"Niklaus" he shouted, stepping back out of the room, he turned his head and watched for his brother to come to him "Klaus!" He shouted once more.

"What's with all of the shouting, brother?" Klaus appeared almost from nowhere, he seemed confused as to the urgency in Elijah's voice. Though, it didn't take Klaus long to assume that it was something to do with these witches, or Lucien.

"You've not seen Cassandra, have you?" He asked

"Not since last night, when you both disappeared" Klaus reminded himself of the odd disappearance of his foe and both of his alliances. "Where did you go?"

"That isn't relevant at this moment" Elijah brushed it off, but was it irrelevant? He thought to himself before deciding the better idea would be do check downstairs on Lucien, just to rule him out as a suspect. "But I'll show you what we were up to"

Elijah lead Klaus down the stairs in a deathly silence. Elijah didn't want to believe it when he got down to the dark basement of the compound, he couldn't believe what he saw.

The original stepped forward, the light of the torches flickering against the open gate. "No" he shook his head in disbelief, turning to his brother with worry filling his face. "How?"

"Elijah, what's happened?" Klaus asked with urgency now, he didn't have the slightest of clues but in Klaus' time, he's realised that an open cage door and a missing vampire isn't the greatest of news.

"It's Lucien" Elijah tried to calm down "we captured him last night and now he's gone"

"He's taken Cassie"
