9.
I growl in frustration, stalking towards Coda-who had stupidly backed himself against the wall.
“I am going to murder you,” I say through gritted teeth.
The wind sweeps through the area, making particles of dust float in the air. The sound of the ocean still pounds heavily in my head.
“Now hold on, whose fault is it that we’re now officially lost?” Coda asks, holding up his hands.
I clench my fists together. “You.You threw my phone off the cliff! Did it not occur to you that my phone was the only thing we had as a map to Point Fortuna?” I growl.
Coda blinks, a frown on his face.
“Oh,” he says simply.
Yes, I was an idiot for typing in the wrong directions, but Coda- Coda took stupidity to a whole new level. We didn’t have a paper map and Coda only had an old school, flip phone.
“I’m going to kill you,” I seethe, so far from sanity right now.
Coda dodges me, slipping to the side before he takes off running for the car.
“Hey!” I yell, running after him.
Coda glances back briefly, a small smile of triumph on his face. “You need me alive. How are you going to explain how your boyfriend died to your parents?”
I huff, my stamina dying fast. “I’ll tell them you fell off a cliff trying to take a leak in the middle of the night!”
Coda glances back again, far away from me.
He was so much more athletically prepared for this than I was- and he knew it.
“That’s cruel!” he shouts back.
I pump my legs fast, my eyes zeroing in on him before taking the chance.
I’m pretty sure that if I didn’t have all this adrenaline and pure rage boiling within me, I wouldn’t have been able to make the leap across the distance between Coda and I.
Eliciting a pure battle cry, I pounce onto Coda’s back, my arms immediately tightening around his neck.
Coda’s knees buckle for a moment but before crashing to the ground, he regains his posture and continues running, his hands on my thighs.
“Get-off,” he commands, straining his neck up.
I tighten my grip on him and Coda tightens his grip on my thighs, trying to push me up so I wasn’t weighing him back.
“Ah!” I scream as I feel myself falling back. Instinctively, I grab onto something- his hair.
“Ow! Mother Fuc-“
“Shut up!” I yell, clinging to him for dear life as he runs around, trying to get me off of him. He was going too fast and I was getting dizzy.
Somewhere in the back of my mind, I remember my surroundings. We were next to a cliff. One trip and we would be goners.
My eyes widen. “Put me down Coda, Put me down!” I screech.
