Chapter One Hundred & Thirty-Three

I reached the French Quarter fairly quickly, yet another one of the perks of being a vampire. It wasn't long before I felt my phone vibrating in my jacket pocket, and saw that Marcel was calling me. I answered immediately, instantly getting a bad feeling.

"Marcel, please tell me you have at least a little good news," I said.

"Sorry, as far as good news, I got nothin'," he started, pausing for a second. "Listen, we have a problem. Hayley caught one of Tristan's guys tailing her. She knocked him out and brought him to the gym for a little Q & A."

"Here comes the punch line..." I muttered.

"It's Shen Min."

"Son of a bitch," I snarled, getting a few odd looks from tourists as I moved a little closer to one building so I wasn't in the way. "You are aware that he was known as "the Red Sorrow" before he was a vampire, right? Kill him, now. Either that, or at least keep him knocked out for a bit. I'll be there in a minute."

I hung up, then quickly dialled Elijah. I knew that he was in the church already, up in the tower. But he was helping Freya find Rebekah, which was also important. I just wanted to warn him.

He answered after one or two rings, and I was bouncing from one foot to the other with anticipation for a little while. I really needed to talk to him. When I heard him say my name, I felt nothing but relief.

"Hayley caught Shen Min following her and now she's at the gym with him and Marcel. I'm going there now but I wanted to give you a heads up," I told him. "No more time. Gotta go. I'll take care of it," I rushed out, quickly hanging up before going into an alleyway and bolting to the gym, making sure the humans didn't see me.

It appeared I got there at exactly the right time, because Shen had one hand buried into the chest of Hayley, as well as his other in Marcel's. He looked like he was about to rip them out, but like every good villain, he just had to make some stupid speech or say some idiotic line before he killed someone.

"How poetic," he smirked. "Two warriors fighting side-by-side, dying toge-"

He was cut off by the pain pulsing in his head when I raised my hand and cause him to have a full on aneurism. He gasped, then pulled his hands from away from them in order to grip at his skull. Luckily, he hadn't removed their hearts along the way. Hayley and Marcel both exhaled deeply, clutching at their chests. Then Shen stood up, seeming to be able to handle the pain I was dealing him.
